More FF8 graphics glitches

The game plays fine, but I have alot of annoying grapical glitches. I've tried dozens of configurations, and I can always fix one or two of these problems, but then I get another one:

poor texture resolution(textures are pixelated)

pre-rendered backgrounds are pixelated

weird artifacts around the edges of characters

shivering affect on the world map, and\or battle screens

objects in the background become blurry

My specs are:

AMD2200+
512 DDR
GF4 ti 4200
2xFSAA on

ePSXe 1.6
Pete's OGL 1.73
Eternal SPU 1.41

640 x480 FS
keep psx AR: off
R8G8B8A8
Texture filtering: 6
FPS limit: 60
Off screen drawing 2
frame buffer T 2
frame buffer A 0
Alpha multipass: on
Mask bit: off
Advanced Blending: on

Disable screensaver: on
Special game fixes: 0002

Well if you set filtering to 2 it may improve 3d sequences, but cause blocks in prerendered backdrops.

That doesn't make a lot of sense with filtering on 6, but it may jt be that you don't realise quite how low resoloution all hte textures are to begin with. Try resizing a 320x240 picture to 1280x960 in an image manipulation program to see what I mean

Whaddaya mean? Maybe you should try a higher level of FSAA.

The lack of sub-pixel accuracy causes this. The coordinates of polygons are still worked out in the original 320x240(ish) and then just upscaled. The best way to deal with this is to run in 640x480 with 4x or 8xS FSAA

Once again not sure what you mean. In some places in FF8, there are multiple pre-rendered backgrounds which blur the distance to give a sense of focus, or it could be the low res textures again.

I've tried 4x AA, but I get some slowdown in some areas.

I've decided jut to leave it like this.

640x480
texture quality: R8G8B8A8
texture filtering: 2

FPS: limit 60

offscreen drawing:3
framebuffer textures: 0
framebuffer access: 4

alpha multipass: on
mask bit: off
advanced blending: on

special game fixes: 0002

This is the best mode I've found so far. I get good looking PR backgrounds, and 3D effects, the only problems I have are some small artifact during transition screens between the map and battle. The battle swirls don't look quite right, and the black screen before you see your EXP gained has garbage textures mixed in it. Everything else is great though.
