Vib Ribbon and ePSXe 1.6.0**petition for Vib Ribbon support**

Well, the one game I cared about working in 1.6.0 still won't run...Vib Ribbon. I think I've got a step closer to running though because instead of 'freezing' on the loading screen, only the graphics freeze and the sound starts...which I never saw it do prior to this new version. Anyway, here's my setup:

Video =
Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.73
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
GFX card: GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X/AGP/SSE/3DNOW!

Resolution/Color:
- 1024x768 Fullscreen - NO desktop changing [32 Bit]
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off

Textures:
- B8G8R8A8
- Filtering: 4
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- VRam size: 128 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 3
- Framebuffer texture: 2
- Framebuffer access: 3
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: on
- Advanced blending: off

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: off
- 15 bit FB: off
- Dithering: off
- Screen smoothing: off
- Screen cushion: off
- Game fixes: off [00000000]

Sound =
Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41
ADPCM enabled
CDDA enabled
XA enabled
SPU IRQ disabled

PLUG IN settings:

Audio Device: DirectSound Buffer Size: 84
Audio Out Method: Thread
Special Game fix all unchecked
--under "Misc" settings only "Wait for XA buffer is free" is checked

CD rom=Pete's 1.73
win2k/xp scsi commands
be_spec2
chaching: none

Misc:
"dont wait until drive ready IS checked"

Error handling:
"read again on read errors IS checked" count=5

Sub Channel reading IS on

--------Can anyone offer any advice as to why this damn game won't work. Tried as an ISO also.

*****The consensus I seem to be getting is that this game isn't going to work any time soon. Consider this thread the petition for support to be added to ePSXe. I do not ask this lightly, I know nothing about coding, programming, and writing emu's. I think most emu authors have got to be the most generous group of people with any computer related skill. Regardless of the fact that they are constantly perfecting their coding skill ( or whatever it is they do to write emu's ), it is we, the end-users, who truly benefit. So here is one already very satisfied and happy emu fan who like to sincerely ask to please look into Vib Ribbon support.**********

A while back no one thought Parappa would be emulated. Now that game runs clean as hell on ePSXe...

IIRC Vib Ribbon won't work with any version of ePSXe

Re: Vib Ribbon and ePSXe 1.6.0

I thought that he meant PCSX but now that I think about it, you're probably right.

Try it in another emulator. PCSX, AndriPSX etc...

maybe you've missed the at the end of my post.

almost every special 3d effect is useless with vib ribbon, because the game is only some white lines on black background. no funky 3d graphics, but the game still rocks and it's a shame it doesn't run on any psx emu yet

btw, i'm not so sure if aniso filtering is really useless with psx emulators. it's true that the real psx doesn't use a z-buffer and with a software plugin that emulates the way a psx draws the graphics aniso would be useless, but plugins like pete's opengl or direct3d use a z-buffer to emulate the graphics and because they display the textures with opengl or direct3d calls it should make a difference if aniso is enabled or not. maybe pete or another plugin author can tell us?

Re: Vib Ribbon and ePSXe 1.6.0

Well.. for Crash Team Racing to work.. you have to enable "SPU IRQ hack" option in both the emulator (Sound config) and the SPU (I use Pete's open source sound plugin)...
It'll work just great then..

So is there an emulator that DOES run Vib Ribbon, no matter how "HARD" is it to get going? Because I'd be willing to put some effort into getting that ******* up. I've been dieing to play that game FOREVER...
