Re: nforce2 board soltek or msi?

I have a Soltek(KT333) and I love it. My friend has a Nforce2 MSi and it's good too. Only bad think about the MSI is that it has no mounting holes for a SLK800U or SLK-900.

Re: nforce2 board soltek or msi?

I was gonna buy a MSI K7N2 Delta-L and james.miller told me that they don't have pci/agp locks so getting the mboard to a 400 fsb would be hard to do. Other than that they have a good amount of features and they are reasonably priced. I also REALLY like the red color of the msi boards . I haven't heard anything bad about soltek boards but I haven't seen many ppl with one anyways. Also look at the abit NF7 series boards, they are supposed to be excellent too (I'm going to be picking up a NF7-S myself). Good luck on your purchase .

Re: nforce2 board soltek or msi?

might want to have a look at epox, as well... they're priced well, and i've never had a problem with either of my epox boards. if you like overclocking, they also o/c quite well.

Re: nforce2 board soltek or msi?

If you've already got a SB audigy1 or 2 then those board will do fine. But if your looking for good onboard sound, make sure to check if those motherboards have the Soundstorm onboard sound system. YOu'll be sorry if you don't get an Nforce2 mobo with Soundstorm.

My NF7-S has it so I'm happy.

fivefeet8, hows about the temperature program, is that already fixed? I read in Tomshardware the program wrongly mentioned the temp and fans speed.

Re: nforce2 board soltek or msi?

AOpen and Gigabyte boards for the cheap(Soltek too).....
Gigabyte 7N400-L1, AOpen AK79D-400 Max, Soltek SL-75MRN....
And if Epox, Their 8RDA+'s first rev. = problems(dead IDEs, etc)...
If Asus, the A7N8X deluxe.
But still, Abit is the best, IMO....

Try to get newer revisions of every board you purchase, Most new revs. has the bugs sorted out of the mobos...

Re: nforce2 board soltek or msi?

it is the best - thats why i brought it.

no, my hard drive isnt the biggest. its not the fastest. but its damn good fro the price

no, my slk800 isnt the best, but its damn good

no, my on-board soundstorm isnt as good as a £200 studio quality card, but again its damn good for the price.

no, my softmodded r9500 isnt the best. a 9800pro kills it dead. but its the best for the price......

see what i'm getting at?

you show me an amd board thats better. Untill then, please, get off my case

I'm not trying to be mean. It's that you always suggest people to get the same stuff that you have.

The Nforce 3 doesn't support Athlon Xp's, that is just a joke.

Re: nforce2 board soltek or msi?

thats because its an opteron chipset. just a little incompatible.

regardless, i have been recommending the nf7-s WAY before i ever brought it, and i still will untill a better board turns up.

Remember i brought the board because it was the best, not the other way around.

all you have to do is a little research, and you will find that all that i have been saying is true.

New bios updates from Abit have fixed many issues with the mobo. Temperature and Fan readouts is one of those that was fixed. Abit releases bios updates very fast. And their message board is always helpful in solving problems. Abit's RMA service is currently one of the best. I tried to RMA my NF7-S rev1.1 before and they called me the next day to confirm it for shipping.

Well, I'm kinda brand minded ... but this NF7-S interest me more than A7N8X Deluxe . Thanks to fivefeet8 who explained about that, so now I dont have any doubt to buy Abit NF7-S

Re: nforce2 board soltek or msi?

Great choice, nice sound and lots of features...
And it would fit the ThermalRight SLK900(old-ver) without any problems, if you decide to buy one...
(Great OCing boards need Great for OCing HS, Right?)

Um, actually I've bought Coolermaster Aero 7+ and just keep it for this new mobo . For HSF, I don't like Thermaltake ... perhaps their Xaser III 6000 will be my case [have no other choice ].

Re: nforce2 board soltek or msi?

thermaltake and Thermalright are two different companies.

tharmaltake make low quality heatsinks. Thermalright make the best you can get - the slk series.

Re: nforce2 board soltek or msi?

That's OK....

Just try to get a Chieftec Dragon. Either original or Aluminum...(the Xaser series is just a clone of this case) it's a really plain case but, this case is also far cheaper than the Xaser series.
It also serves as the best piece of canvas for PC modders(Limitless ideas, Limitless modding).....

James.Miller, Have you tried the TT silent power's fan on the SLK800?(the fan is a very special panaflo clone)...
