FF7 is FFX-3?

According to the Final Fantasy X-2 Ultimania Guidebook (and Nojima himself), Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 are prequels to Final Fantasy VII.

Here's an online excerpt from the book: (Nihongo)

Reads like gibberish to me. Yep, Lord Kane is something different.

If that is true, it sounds to me like the idea popped up much later than the games' releases. If they intended to make things that way they'd atleast relate the two worlds with a clear bond like the Ancients. Crying, living planets and sending souls to the far plane seems like an entirely different concept to me.
The possible relations I can think of would be Sin is similar to Weapons and the spheres are actually materia (which is condensed planetary energy, though I think the spheres in FFX was a whole different story) in FF7.

if this would be true why they wait till now to announce this? It would be much more impressiv if they said that as they announced FFX (because FF7 was so successful).

Greetings,

Unfortunately I can't read Kane's article
But could it be true that FFX and FFX-2 are prequels to FFVII?
This would be interesting by itself, and reason enough to make me want even more to play FFX (I don't have a PS2).

Live long and prosper.

i just want to know how it would all tie in together. since ff7's main plot is about the planet. ffx's plot relies on religion and ghosts.

I'm sorry FF7 was a great game but storyline-wise, it sucked ass... talk about being conventional.

To be quite honest, I really think they're making s*** up as they go along. Spira has no resemblance to the world in FF7; physically or even in a cultural context. As far as I am concerned, all the true FF sequels take place within their own separate world.

On the other hand, if what that english article stated was accurate, I would be at least be pleased by the fact that Tifa is the main character in the hypothetical FF7-2. I have a thing for big-breasted kung-fu girls wearing short skirts (who doesn't?)!

What do you know? I tell you, movie/game developers are going back and forth.....look at Star Wars, first we got Episodes 4,5 and 6, and now we got 1,2 and 3 on the horizon.
