Heres a fairly unique situation for you: I was working on this machine for a guy one day. it was a slot one P2 and i was having trouble getting the processor out. I finally was able to get the proc out but in the process, i cut my finger on the heat sink and didn't know it and bled all over the processor contacts and slot one slot. heh it din't work.... luckily the guy was nice and was looking to upgrade at the time neway lol.

I just burnt my MSI KT4 Ultra.... 30 mn after updating my Bios. But strangely all the other components are OK (CPU, Mem, HDD and my AIW 9700 pro)...
I can't figure what was wrong with that new BIOS.

I just ripped out my Vortex 2 out of my computer, helt it at ransom with a blowtorch, and sat on it. Whatever you do, do not trust 3rd party drivers......

prolly the stupidest thing i have ever done is tried to jump start a computer using a pair of metal scissors. it worked every time i tried it. except that one time when the a huge spark totally fried the mobo's pins (the pins that makes it turn on) now i can't turn on that mobo... i'm still wondering if i could do a Wake On Lan feature...

moral of the story is... don't try to jump start the computer to turn it on... get an actuall case with a power button w/o any way to turn it on but to jump start it yourself...

Sounds like sound advice. You could get the power button out of an old case and hook that up to the power contacts if you're working on the computer out of the case a lot. That would work, and you would be less likely to accidently fry something.

> huge spark

PS. I wish I was there to see the spark...I'm sure it was a startling thing to see.

I bet it would have been.

Off topic, I once got a huge spark when I put a mug of soup in the microwave to heat it up again, and forgot to take the spoon out first. It looked like a mini lighning bolt going from the roof of the microwave to the spoon.

Another big spark of mine was one that I got when I got off the trampoline one day, The spark was about a cenimetre long and burnt the skin on my finger. I had a little brown spot on my finger for several weeks afterwards. I sure am glad that spark didn't end up hitting the computer!
