Looking for an old NES adventure/rpg -ish game but can't remember the name
hello, as the subject states <above>, here are details for the game: -It's probably moreso an adventure game, as i don't remember it having experience levels. -it's a 2D side scroller (u could also go up and down though, like in metroid) -the game starts off in a house with 5 characters in it, and these are the playable characters you can control, one at a time of course -the 5 playable characters consist of a family and their pet monster, specifically: a boy who's able to wield a certain sword which is the only weapon that can kill the very last boss of the game (which im sure is some oversized dragon); his father; mother; sister; and a white blob monster who doesn't take hits when touched by almost all other monsters (he's one of em, just affiliated with humans). -remember how games like bomberman and super mario bros. 3 had level layouts consisting of lots of 'blocks'? Well all the playable characters and many of the obstacles in the game (e.g. walls, ladders) can be measured in 1x1 or 1x5 blocks GAMEPLAY: -u select a character to leave the house and wonder around the world, trying to complete 1 objective after another, (similar to Faxanadu i guess) -player's main weapon is some projectile (varies per actual char u choose) -there's an inventory of items u maintain and use I've talked to many ppl already as well a host of Funcoland reps, none of em have a single clue. Perhaps someone in the vast internet community may remember the name of this game. If you need more details, please let me know |

almighty bob, that is what I was thinking also. But he didn't mention anything about jellybeans. In "A Boy and his Blob" the boy could get the blob to change into different things by feeding it different flavored jellybeans. I didn't respond becuase he didn't mention any of this. But perhaps this is the game he is looking for. sincerely, sx/amiga |

I know this game! But crap the name ecapes me. I know as soon as you pick your character, you climb down the stairs from the house, and you move left, correct?

I knew 'blob' would strike a key-word. To further add, the game definately is NOT "A Boy and His Blob". I checked, and even so, i don't believe it had any sequels (not of the same name anyways) For every1 who mentioned "a boy and his blob", thanx anyways. To Dark Zero, what you said there is exactly correct. (althought later in the game, u may need to go off exploring to the right of the house)

Glad to help ^_^ You said earlier that later on you go to the right of the house? Jeez, and I thought I got far into the game! All I did was go deep and deep into the game, and end of get lost. |

nah, now that i (and other's i've talked to) kno the name of the game, I've been told that the ONLY entrance to the big-ass dungeon is to the left of the house, after the shop but before the wondrous but pointless caslte. Similar to Diablo1 & 2, where each venture into the dungeon/wilderness is only through 1 entrance from the town There apparently is nothing to the right. And if you got more than one crown in the game, you're already further than I ever was. Of course i gotta start over b/c i don't remember anything

All I know, I was really far, some greenish area, that then turned purple and I needed to girl because she was able to jump higher then anyone else. Regardless, the enemies took many hits and my magic was depleated very quickly. Also, you remember anything about that dragon (green dragon I think) that's pretty deep into the first area that seems to be "locked" in an enclosure?

yep that's right. I've had a friend who beat this game a long time ago, and it wasn't easy at all. THis is one game where having FAQS and/or drawing your own maps, making inverntory really helps out. There IS a dragon you fight, but according tto a source on www.gamefaqs.com its supposed to be a portrait of it and not the actual dragaon itself, the real one appearing when u get all the necessary items.

I don't know why, I didn't even play this game all that much, but with your discription of the game, this is the one that came to mind. Weird. Though, of course, I didn't remember the name to it either, so I'm glad he did.
