ISO File is HUGE, more than a 700MB CD

Hello, I used CloneCD and it worked great...Except it created three files and the total size is over 700MB which is the limit of the CD. What did I do wrong?

You can, you just do a 1:1 copy with Clone CD.

Most CD's blank right now have 720 MB capacity. You can use it with CloneCD.

>Except it created three files

Yes, it contain the CD image itself, CloneCD control data and subchannel data. These 3 files must be in same folder in order to be burned.

If you really want to burn the iso on a CD as an ISO, you can try this little tool before compressing it. It really works.

My CDs say it can hold around 800MB. Probably because I bought the super-duper high quality ones

Or you could compress it with winzip/winrar, that way, you can store multiple games on a single CD (if they're not too large)

No you don't. The reason these images are bigger then 640MB is because are "raw" images. The "raw" data storage capacity of a regular (72min) CD is around 725MB.

The reason only 640MB is actually usable for data is because there's a LOT of error-correction data.

.iso's and .bins use a different file structure. In short, you can fit an image of about 780 MB on a standard 700 MB CD-R, and in rare cases, images over 800 MB.

I'm pretty sure a lot of room in a bin and in an iso is devoted to storing the structure of data on a CD. Just give it a shot in your burner, it ought to burn onto a 700 mb cd.

Badaro and Thanatos are correct, raw CD images are always larger than the actual size on CD. When burning a CD or ISO don't look at the size but at the playing time. You can burn any amount of data onto a CD as long as it's under the playing time (74 minutes on 650 MB, 80 minutes on 700 MB).
