Exclamation I tried every SPU on ff9, it sill sucks

I tried every SPU on ff9, but its still an hitchy and stammering sound.
is it my soundcard maybe?? I have an on-board ac'97 VIA soundcard

plleazzz any suggestions??

i had mega problems with spus and ff9 until i fiddled with my hardware resources for my soundcard and switched to the eternal spu. i had to set the buffer to no less than 11 otherwise the sound was glitchy.

and the problem still happens with the FF9 sound fix in eternal SPU?

Disable SPU IRQ hack in the emu, use Eternal, and enable the top special game fix.

yeah that worked for me (kanes solution) and my sound kicks now, i am also using ac97.

well, the bad thing is:
evn the ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2 doesn't do any good

The internal SPU isn't as good as the 3rd party SPUs like Eternal/ PEOPs.

FYI, the audio core within ePSXe was only updated when 1.52 was released around a year back. And the developers have more to worry about then perfecting a core plugin that a 3rd party plugin cound do something 5 times better
