Question Why can't CD RW discs play on CD players?

I have a pack of CD RW dics and I can't get them to play on my CD player.

I can make a backup of my music CD and play it on my computer, but it doesn't work on my CD player.

How come CD RW dics doesn't work for CD players?

Is it because of the different laser?

The calibration is different on CD players, the same for the PSX, DC, etc...

But there some which can play them, even DC can be modded to do it by adding a switch and a RES

to play CD-RW it depends on the CD-Player model, I mean, my Sony Walkman CD-Player D-EJ751 can read CD-RW... the problem is that the CD-RW surface (where the laser write on) is different from "standard" CD-R...

Thx, bye

My Koss Disc player can play CDR's. I don't know about CDRW's though, I have never tried them.

... and it's not just limited to CD players: my old 8X CD-ROM drive can't read CDRWs either.

Play? Who said anything about playing? I can't even emulate SNES correctly, not to mention the fact that I don't even have a soundcard. My PC should be the one that's mentioned in my profile instead.

Yeah, but I still have (had, apparently) some HD problems so I sent it to be fixed. Unfortunately the guy in charge of that promised to bring it back to me yesterday, but he didn't show up and tomorrow he simply has to get married, so I won't get it back until Sunday, which is when he says he'll give it to me, and that sounds more like Monday to me.

Most players can play cd-r's
but most players can't play cd-rw's
and i would recommend an mp3 player like the creative zen over a minidisc
i have one..and unless your minidisc is netMD, god recording is gonna be a real bore

You could just drag your whole PC around with you and listen to MP3s

usually the player will say wheter or not it suppots CDRWs. I would recommend an MP3 CD player that supports cdrws.

I think it can't play them because of the CDRW's significantly lower reflectivity rate than the CDR.
