Looks like Xeven took my advice and worked on the recompiling or optimization of the emu. I suggested that he might want to consider this after testing Gauntlet Legends out on the 0.13 beta.
Way to go Xeven , I'll bet Gauntlet Legends runs fine now. I'll let you know what I find out.
sincerely,

I would think that he might Liquid. But I'm not sure that he does. I've tested it w/the new version, using Pete's GPU plugins vers. 1.69, and also using the latest Catalyst drivers for my Radeon card. Unfortunately, the game does same thing. Slow down, speed up, slowdown, speed up, etc. It is a regular cycle from 60 FPS down to 47 FPS and then it starts again and again and again. So there is still some work to be done on the optimazation of the emu, but it is still an excellent work and one that I am proud to test.
sincerely,

I tried out Guantlet Legends, and everything seems to work fine for me, what settings are you using?

I have offscreen drawing set to 3
Framebuffer Access set to Gfx Card buffer (2)
and Framebuffer Texture set to Reads (1)

if it's possible could you post a memory card save of a stage that has this problem.

Actually, all the stages have this problem. But thanks for the settings Liquid. I'll give them a try and see what happens. What video card are you using, which GPU plugin, and are you using OGL or D3D? It happens to me in both. Also while playing this game, either on ePSXe or PS7, my Hard Drive is being accessed constantly. I have 1 gig of PC2700 DDR memory @ 333 mhz, so I am wondering why this would be happening. Any ideas? Perhaps the constant HD access is what is slowing it down on PS7. On ePSXe it runs fine but it still accesses the HD constantly w/this game also. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Sx, I'm using a geforce3 ti 200 and pete's gpu 1.70, I tested it more indepth and the game runs slower in ps7 here is a tiny work-a-round for the moment to keep the frame-rate from jumping; please try using Eternal SPU 1.30 with these settings:

sound buffer: 32
Audio Out method: Thread
Wait for Xa buffer free: OFF
all other settings should be off also

Thanks Liquid, will do. If that solves the problem, great. If not, oh well, ePSXe plays this game perfectly. But I will give that a try.

liquid, thankyou very very much for the great solution. I tried it and it works. The speed in Gauntlet Legends still fluctuates a little, but it is a lot smoother now. A feather in your cap (for suggesting it) and one in Xeven's (for making such a great emulator.
BTW, with this fix, I consider Gauntlet Legends 100% playable.
sincerely,
sx/amiga
