modem to modem connection

is there any availabe software where i can setup a connection using modem to modem
where i just need to put the phone # of my friend and its ready to go

and supports winme and winxp

Windows Hyper Terminal....
You can share files by using old (but stll good) protocols like : Kermit, Zmodem, Xmodem & Ymodem...

your modem (or your receiver) must be configured to accept incoming phone calls in Windows Control panel.
Then, from HT, Just creat a new profile where you put the phone# of the oposite. You have also to configure a common protocol & and go.....

i'm more on gaming on modem to modem
any software???

some games have built-in capability
like starcraft and c&c red alert etc

were you just need to put the number and dial

You can use Point to Point Protocol (PPP) then. It's like doing Internet except that's between 2 stations only. I don't remember the settings in Windows but you can find an answer by looking in the Windows Help.

i tried that but i have some problem on my friend she dont know how to do it so i'm looking on an easy solution
