Smile Microsoft invading your PC...... again.

Well, I have just come from this site:

http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/tcpa-faq.html

It talks about the new Windows PC which will be able to monitor and restrict your activities if it doesn't like what your doing, or something along those lines...

Oh, and Linux is also in on this, apparently this has already been around, but personally I think this is a HUGE invasion of privacy....

tsk tsk tsk. If we have learned anything by now its that somebody will ALWAYS find a way around the system.

Remember when people used to think that you couldnt get rid of IE and such from your Windows OS? Then some guy went and made Win98 Lite (I *THINK* that was the name of it, right?). How you couldn't get past DVD encyrption, etc etc etc.

Also, unless you had a constant internet connnection, how could they monitor your stuff? Unless they start installing satelite modems/tracking devices in every PC?

Well, I know that there will always be people who can get around these things, but as it stated in the FAQ, it will be extremely hard, and knowing Microsoft, it will keep updating it, making it harder and harder to do, until only a few can do it......and this is hardware were talking about, you cant just download a patch, its a little more complicated than that......

From what I gathered from the FAQ, it was basically Microsoft and Intel doing the majority of the hardware for it right? Then the solution would be quite simple: simply use another OS and Parts. There are other processor manufacturers, and since MS is making its Windows Source code public, there will be other OSs. Of course if the Government makes every computer comply with the Palladium thing, you could simply just go North of the Border. They have plenty of room, if you don;t mind living on the Tundra (or "permafrost" as some call it).

This Palladium is like 2 years old stuff. Both AMD and Intel plan to adopt it. Unless people start sayinfg stuff. Chances are. Near the end of the release.

People will get ticked off like that old Pentium 3 feature ^^

And it'll just end up not being used.

if it does. there are other altneratives to Windows ^^

And I always figured the government would reach Big Brother status first, but I guess MS and Intel are just evil enough to go that far. The machines are actually going to tattle on us...and apparently Bill Gates has a problem with the Chinese. Ok, this is f'd up, plain and simple. Power to the hackers who can get around this crap. They tote it as 'trust software' but it sounds more like a lack of trust.

I purchased windows XP and paid full price for it. Every third time I install a detonator driver, I have to call M$ and beg for a new activation key. Hackers and theives just go download a patch that disables product activation. So in reality the only people that windows activation affects is honest people that purchase the product. All it does is piss me off.

Save yourself the grief and just input a corp key. After all, you did purchase it legally.

LOL! If I had to endure all that I wouldn't mind sending a packet of anthrax to Redmond.

Every 3 months or so thats what I go through. The first couple times I was transferred to a supervisor, who I reminded that XP not booting up without me calling them was extortion, he relented and gave me my key. A couple of times when this has happened at an inconvenient time, I thought of just downloading the patch, but never got around to iy.

This the woest thing I ever saw since WinME (no offence to it's users). What next?! Will we be forced to buy some kind of Microsoft software everytime we enter a PC shop!! Or maybe we have to put microsoft adds on our cars!! utterly unacceptable!!

Nothing says you have to use Palladium. Sure you won't be able to use Palladium software but who gives a damn. I can't imagine how this could ever become popular. One of the major benefits to using PCs is their flexibility and upgradeability, which something like this would negate. I think it would change my entire concept of PCs.

Oh, and for those of you who don't know, Palladium will not be a seperate OS. It'll be an extension to Windows XP (and possibly 2K as well).
