Question

How cold does it get down there? Is there any heating in the basement? Do you notice any condensation (moisture) on the walls or floor now? These are questions that must be answered before you set your computer up down there. Moisture and extreme cold can "kill", literally, a computer. I'd be very careful if I were you.
sincerely,

to me, it seems really cold, but then again i'm cold blooded =p
anyways... i felt the side of my tower, it's cold enough that.. if you were a little warm, you could try cooling off by taking it and rubbing against it, lol..... sorry for the bad example
yeps there's heating down here... the insulation's pretty good =) looks like there isn't any moisture on the floors and i don't know bout the walls..... i'm guessin not

eh.... think i should ask my friend to make me a little stage for my comp to sit in?

If it's not that cold and the walls are dry you can set it up there

Unhappy

When it too cold your monitor screen can look funny until it warms up and when the parts inside your computer start warming up, condensation can form on them. If that happens bzzzzzzzzt! 'Nuff said.

Just use an AMD, the cold will become the least of your worries.

Word of advice though: Don't ever turn your computer off. If the basement is that cold, it will be really hard on your electronics to be turned on and off.

I would definately reccomend that you check the temperature in the basement. Post what it is and then we can give you more accurate information as to wether or not your computer will be allright down there.
