I REALLY NEED HELP concerning my EMS USB 2 Converter.....HELP!!!

Well, I got an EMS USB 2 converter, for those who don't know it allows me to use 2 PSX pads simultaneously on a PC, and I'm having a few problems...

1.) How do I use the Rumble Support, or 'Dual Shock'to work in ePSXe? Cause whether I use 'Burutter' or 'DirectX','Constant or 'Sine' it doesn't work. This is in Win XP. In Win ME, it's a similar case, but if I set it to DirectX it Rumbles, BUT, whether I choose 'Constant' or 'Sine', once it starts to rumble, say I get shot at in 'Medal Of Honour', it doesn't stop rumbling until I quit ePSXe. So, what can I do?

2.)How do I get to use the Analogue Sticks in Connectix VGS? I know this in the ePSXe thread, but I might as well ask here.

3.)How do I get the PAL version of 'Ape Escape' to work in ePSXe? I have a PSX pad and now I have the use of Analogue sticks which I need for it, but I can't move at all! What do I do?

All the help is truelly appreciated!!

Hi, in order...

1) I'm not sure u can solve the rumble problem, especially in XP. I mean: there's a solution, this is true, but u've to try other drivers, other settings in the Windows registry, because in my opinion is only a registry problem. In fact, I had the same problem w/ my Super Joybox 4 (aka Super Dual Box): first, it had rumbled in XP Controller Control Panel, but not in ePSXe, then it didn't rumble anymore and now, after a lot of tests and drivers tested (), it rumbles in XP Controller Control Panel and in ePSXe. So, 2 solutions: wait for someone other's help or find other drivers and give them a try!

2) VGS doesn't support analog pads, sorry, I mean, there's not an option like in ePSXe to tell the emu u'r using an analog pad, so u can't use games that needs ONLY analog pads (so u can't play "Ape Escape" on VGS)

3) I can play "Ape Escape (NTSC)" on ePSXe, w/o problems. Probably u haven't configured the pad to works as analog. Please go in the config pad window on ePSXe and see the image I attached.

Thx, bye

Thanks for the reply, Gismo. Well, it's a shame I can't do anything about VGS and the Analogue Sticks. As for the Dual Shock, I got the LATEST drivers from EMS, and in the Control Panel, both the Analogue Sticks and the Dual Shock work absolutely fine! But like I said, I can't get it to work in ePSXe in XP or ME.....not properly in ME anyway.

And as for 'Ape Escape', my pad configuration is ABSOLUTELY fine! I've played dozens of games with the Analogue Sticks, here's a pic of my settings.....

Hi,

yes, your pad config is fine, but u have set the rumble to "Burutter", not to "DirectX"... and the big motor must be "constant", the small one "sine".

Anyway, np for the help, just u'r welcome!

Thx, bye

O.K. I got the Analogue Sticks to work with 'Ape Escape'. I was using an origional Playstation Pad, so I tried using a PSOne pad, you know...from the newer, smaller Playstations, and it's okay. But I still can't get Dual Shock to work.

Again, thanks for the help, Gismo.

i got it working...

but not with EMS products...

if your using XP try updating to direct X9...

then configure your pad player one to use "digital/analog(f5)"

then use direct X as rumble constant for big motor and sine for small

Hi,

for the original PS pad and the PSone, yes, I know the differences, but thx anyway. W/ my Super Joybox 4 (aka Super Dual Box) I'm using a PS2 pad (a Dual Shock 2, SCPH-10010) and, I repeat, it rumbles well. I also tried a PS one (SCPH-1200, I don't know if for the original PS or the PSone) and it works. Even w/ a non-Sony pad, an Atomic one (from this web, an Italian reproduction of the Sony pad) it rumbles.

So, as rei_fox said, try to install DX9, probably it'll solve the problems.

My pleasure helping u.

Thx, bye

In XP and ME. I installed DX9, and I set the pad to DirectX and 'Constant' in Big Motor, and 'Sine' in Small Motor, but I have the same problem in both O/S's, once it starts rumbling, it doesn't stop till I quit ePSXe......huh.....thanks for the help. Keep the suggestions comming!

No, rei_fox, the game doesn't crash. It just keeps rumbling until I hit escape and go back into Windows. Are there any universal drivers available? Is there nothing else I can do?

Hi,

I think there's nothing else u can do, except for a last test: u said your EMS can plug 2 PSX pad, so in ePSXe have u already tried to configure the second player pad as game pad 1? I mean, w/ my Super Joybox 4 (for 2 players, too) I can use well the analog and the rumble only if I set the second player pad as game pad 1. Probably it'll work, just a test.

Otherway, I think there's not universal driver, because I think it doesn't exist a generical driver for PSX2USB converter . But u can find other version of the drivers for the EMS, just make a search on Google. Or, if u want, u can send me the Windows Registry key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\ and I can give a look to the ForceFeedback values, maybe I can modify them.

Thx, bye

Thanks for the idea, Gismo. I'm gonna try it out. I'm also gonna check the registry thread and see what I can do. You know, the Rumble works fine in 1964 or Project 64, using NRage's plugin, but if I try ePSXe or PCSX with NRage's Plugin, it doesn't work......

Np for the idea, as u know, I and the others r here to try to solve problems and/or to suggest possible solutions.

Anyway, remember, N-Rage plugin for P©SX doesn't have the rumble support, only the Harakiri one has it for PSX2USB, but w/ mine, which rumbles well on ePSXe, I can't use the rumble on P©SX w/ Harakiri pad plugin.

But, please let's know your progresses!

Thx, bye

Again, thanks for your help, Gismo. I'm determined to figure this thing out!

So, I checked the Registry Thread that you said you were gonna check out, and there's too much there to figure heads from tails. Although, I'm gonna try PCSX with Harakiri's Pad Plugin.

And I found out something interesting. With Ape Escape, if I run the CD in ePSXe, the Analogue Sticks don't work, but if I make an image of it and run the ISO in ePSXe, it's fine!! What do you think?

I'm still gonna try a few things, but keep those ideas comming!! Thanks, Gismo.

ready2rumbelX

EDIT > Okay. I'm trying to use 'Harakiri's Pad Plugin v1.4' in PCSX. Now, I set it as the 'First Controller' and 'Second Controller' Plugin in the 'Plugin Setup'. Now, I set it to Dual Shock, as you'll see in the picture, and i've set the small motor to 'Sine' and the big motor to 'Constant' and it works beautifull! Then, when I try run a game, it tells me "Error Opening PAD1 Plugin". What's up? You know, I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Pad connected in my sound card, so I tried disconecting it and I still get the error!

Hi,

- for Harakiri pad: the "Error Opening PAD1 Plugin" is strange, because if u can set well the Harakiri it won't give that error. Have u tried to configure the pads, close P©SX and then reopen it? I attached my Harakiri config window, but it's the same as u. Have u tried other pad plugins? I mean, just to know if it's a general error or an Harakiri error.

- for "Ape Escape": I can use the analog even w/ the CD, but I don't think it's a problem of CD/iso, I mean, try to load the CD, then when it doesn't start try to push F4/F5 and see if it continues.

Stay tuned...

Thx, bye

edit >>> another possible trick is the following: I think your PSX2USB could work w/o any driver, I mean, mine (Super Joybox 4) can, but w/o driver I don't have the rumble support. In this way, however, u can know if the "Error Opening PAD1 Plugin" problem is due to the rumble driver or to the general pad configuration!

Gismo, I got it to work. I just reset my computer and changed the 'Second Controller' Plugin to NRage's and it works fine! The Analogue Sticks and the Dual Shock work fine now! But this is in PCSX, so that's progress! I played Medal Of Honour and it works great!! So, at least that! Great, huh?

As for Ape Excape, it's soo strange! If I try play with the CD, whether I press F4/F5, I can't move in the main menu! The image works fine, but it won't work with the CD! What do you think?

And if I don't use the drivers that came with my EMS USB 2 converter, then I have no Dual Shock support........that's what I think, but even then, I donno how to uninstall the software, so it's a mute point.

Otherwise, again, thanks for the help, Gismo. I know I keep saying it, but I think it's good for you to know how much I appreciate it. Besides, I was raised like that....

Keep the ideas comming!!

Hi,

wow, this is a good news! But, which N-Rage version do u have? I mean, mine is the 0.95 and i can't find the rumble section in the config window. It just for my pleasure, so probably mine PSXtoUSB will rumble even in P©SX (now it rumbles only in ePSXe).

For "Ape Escape": I don't still understand why it works only from .iso. This on ePSXe or on P©SX or on the 2?

Thx, bye

The Ape Escape problem is in ePSXe, it doesn't work in PCSX. PCSX crashes for me if I try the CD or image.
