Cruelty

Is it human nature to be cruel to others? Or is that a trait that's evolved over time?

Just part of the deep complexities of the human mind. Let me just suffice it to say that it's in our genes.

It's human to be cruel from time to time, but being always cruel mans you need to see a shrink.

hmmmmm.... this is on of the things i've already thought about for hours.... dunno why... i always think about weird stuff when stoned... i went back with this "problem" you know scientists say that we evolved out of monkeys or better.... animals... this should mean we have a lot of animal instincts or ability's.... but... that's not really true... we sure got some instincts... but do we know if an earthquake or a storm is gonna happen? not really... or if you look at animals... as soon as they are able to use their genitals (especially male ones) they start ***king their parents or sisters/brothers... this is in my eyes one of the most confusing things.... but back ontopic... cruelnes does exist even in the animal territory... i've once seen a documentary about a pack of lions and there was one female lion wich really enjoyed killing the little baby's of the others in the pack... but they didn't hurt or punished her... this was so weird... although the parents knew about the lion they didn't even try to change it.... so you have to say that life is cruel not living things coz if you look at it on another part of view it's just about how early you are born and how early you start realizing how short life is so you can really enjoy it... so i think cruelnes is something you have in your genes.... it doesn't even have to come from your parents... there are enough sick people out there wich haven't been beaten up when they were young or something... cruelness is like erm... crap i forgot the word... erm.. something you like... it like a hobby... everyone enjoys doing theyr hobbies... so you do what you enjoy and if you enjoy it to hurt people then that's it... and not everyone is cruel from time to time... also i have to say i'm no longer sure if humans really were animals before because there are just too many things that are not animal-like at all... for example entertainment... animals never try to entertain somebody just for fun... also they don't bother about the psycologie of another animal... man i always loose the topic... sorry... hope you can figure out what i wanted to say

It would be easier to figure it out if you used a few paragraphs to break it down.

That's alot of fullstops there.
Being cruel is like a skill. The more you practice it, the easier it becomes. IMO being cruel to survive is something human(Like throttling the life out of a pig for food), but otherwise its like abusing drugs.

Well... it's kinda hard to compare human cruelty with animal 'cruelty.' Although it's rare for a female lion to kill the young of a pride, whenever a male takes over a pride his first act is just that, to kill off all the young. This is to make the females go into heat and insure all the young he's going to be protecting are his.

I find it a lot more disturbing to watch monkeys hunt other monkeys... Especially chimps since they make it a group effort.

As for humans... Personally I think the main problem is our tendency to rationalize things. Things like nationalism, religious fanatisism and other beliefs that encourage ideals of inequality. It's easy to be cruel to someone you consider beneath yourself.

I think that humans are by nature good persons. It's the world what corrupts them. Kids living pacefully with their parents usually do better in school and are less troublesome. Kids that live away from one of their parents usually bring more chaos to a classroom. I talk about a school because my mother is a teacher, and things like those are what determine wether a kid is a "good" or "bad" student.

>>I think that humans are by nature good persons

Peoples are neutral by nature, but are influenced by other's
moods, choices, etc, places, beliefs,...
Good persons are peoples who choosed to be good, or forced to be

It is in human nature to be cruel because we have given ourselves to Satan without knowing it.

Satan nor God are a reason for our acts,
if one kills someone else, it won't be becoz of Satan,
it will be his -bad- choice
And it's the same for the Doctor who saves lifes in a hospital,
it isn't God who said him to do so, but only this doctor
who choosed to do it (for money?)

...what we do of our lives is our choices, not God or Satan's will

(I say that becoz I'm not a very religious guy)
