My stupid ***** sister!!!!!!!!!

ok listen to this i have a 56k so it takes quite a while to d load big things. Well anyway i was d loading ghost in the shell and it was 500 mb it had taken quite a few hours(probably around 18) and today she comes home and cancels the download when i had 450 mb's d loaded all ready. I come home after school and i look to see if it finished and it isnt anywhere to be found. I ask her what happened to the thing i was d loading and she flat out lies to me and tells me it had been cancelled before she went on the computer. That stupid ****ing ***** i wanted to slit her ****in throat right there. Then she yells at me because i deleted the song she had been d loading for 15 minutes. Does anyone else find her to be a dumb *****.

You should have enabled "on resume, password protect" in the screensaver. (WinXP)

Make a seperate account for her and enable fast user switching. Also make her account a normal user account so she can't install things and disallow her from shutting down the computer. With fast user switching you can have your account running at all times, even when someone else is on the computer. You can download it on your account and she can still use the computer on her account. The programs on your account will keep running in the background so unless she knows your password she won't be able to cancel the download or do anything to affect your running programs. I do it on my sister's computer all the time. I leave mIRC running on my account while my sister does her stuff. When she's finished I log back in and continue on normally.

Note: Fast user switching is only available on Windows XP

how do u do that fast user switching thing? the closest i get to that is just creating a regular account, check off the limiting factors in control panel, create a password for my account, n go to screensaver when im not using it.

.... I'd kill her..... but well, that's not really the case..... it was just a misunderstanding... mebbe she is younger than you and isn't on the net enough to appperciate what you done,.... anyway, forgive her and take some measures in order to avoid this from happening again....

In Control Panel go to User Accounts. In there there should be an option "Change the way users log on or off". Click on it and on the next screen there should be a checkbox for "Use Fast User Switching". Enable it and on the Log Off screen there should now be two options, "Switch User" and "Log Off". Choosing either will bring you to the user selection screen (and effectively lock the computer) but with the "Switch User" option your programs will keep running in the background and other users can log into their own accounts without disturbing your own.

"THE POWER BUTTON"

its a new concept... but its easy to grasp

but seriously... i never heard of users not being able to shut the comp down, ever... or not being permissioned to shut the comp down at all.

In Windows XP U can also control the function of power button from the Control Panel>poweroptions, but hey what about the main switch lolz

Well I'v got no sister but I don't really appreciate anyone being so harsh with his sister. Take it easy and begine long lasting download again.

Well you can apply super glue to the power switch and cables...
Sigh. I wish I have a sister to bug me like that. Being the only child shucks.

You can disable her from shutting down the computer. Besides, what would be the point in shutting it down? She's still going to have to log into her account to use it.

Where this is going, I think last suggestion would be to put a bullet through her brains

Or, one can purchase a new computer/laptop instead of blaming others and whining about other's actions. It is a much better solution indeed. This solution will also provide more space for porn and a variety of entertainment materials, as well as absolute fool-proof protections on confidential data.

Confidential data can be kept safe from others without the need for another computer or passwords. NTFS has built-in security that can block people from accessing certain folders. You can set folder and file permissions (give only yourself permission) as well as encrypt data. As long as she's not administrator she won't be able to change the settings and access the folders. Even if you have another computer if she can get access to it she can see everything. The best way to protect your confidential files is making her her own account and setting NTFS file permissions.

Or, for a low-tech approach, just put the comp in your room and lock the door when you go out.

When someone does something like this to me... there's a cold war going on for a month. I am like a saboteur when pissed off. I haven't cut anyone's brakelines though.... yet.
