question: dvd drive used w/ ePSXe

just wondering if anyone can help me with a problem im having with the emulator...

i have a Dvd drive and im trying to use it to run game cds off of, the emulator starts but I get a black screen when it would normally start up the game from the drive. I think it might be a driver problem as the standad drive that I have works just fine...

I am using pete's Cdr plugin and am running wondows XP
(i also considered that it might be a XP problem)

howevre, when i use the plugin's autodetect to check the dvd drives config it reads it fine...

Also wondering if ps2 games will run in ePSXe and if one needs a dvd drive to use them...

thanks all...

PS2 games wont work on ePSXe. PS2 emulation is still under process ( PCSX-2 is showing some progress) but there is still no PS2 emulators that are able to play PS2 games.

as for ePSXe. does your drive try to read the cd? I mean, do you hear the sound of the cd spinning when you emulate the psx game. Anyways, make sure you have the right gpu and cdr plugins configured correctly and make sure you have the latest ASPI layers installed on your system....

I have a lg dvd drive and it works just fine, as does my cd-rw drive so I guess you didn't configure your plugins correctly

hmmm, well if ps2 games dont work then there is really no point in wasting my time trying to get my dvd drive to read as i already have a 52x that works just fine....

the drive spins and the leds report when it is checking the cd, i can open it and see all of those lovely hidden files in windows xp, but in ePSXe it does nothing, no sound or reporting at all... when the plugin checks the config of it it doesn't spin audibly either....

you have to congifure your video, sound and cdr plugins so that ePSXe can work fine....

To configure your plugins, go to Lord Kane's site:
