Do you use savestates??? Or do you use the native PSX memcard saves? It is really recommended using the native saves, because FF9 tends to freeze if you use ePSXe save states.

when you end disk 1, you should save your game on the MEMORY CARD so that when disk 2 is inserted, it will read the memory card to go on... and do not aways rely on savestate alone... always use the memory card coz sometimes when the savestate goes wrong , at least you have a save file in the memory card.

Why do people use savestates? PSX users can't use them!

Hmmm... look into your ePSXe memcard directory. You should find two memcard files there. If not, you should create them wih ePSXe (Config -> Memory Card). If they exist, check, if they are not Read-Only.

Umm, you can check if there really are saves in your mem card by running the BIOS. If the saves there, then I recommend you to create a new mem card.

well it is one of the many LUXURY that emulator can bring to us... although some of it can be called CHEATING but heck, its better than starting from your last save point which is way back of your current position...

Yes, I think that it is a kind of cheating. When I first used emulators I also made lots of savestates (every 10 meters), because it made games much easier, but the challenge of a game was completely gone.

The only times I've ever used save state are just before big boss battles in RPGs, because if you refresh from a memcard save that usually means that you have to sit through a ****load of dialogue before you get to the battle.
