Mega Man Legends 2

I've tried numerous video plugins, settings, and bioses, but I can't get this game to run. Whenever I load it up I just get a black screen. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this game to work? Some basic computer specs, if they're needed:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
512 Mb RAM
GeForce4 XP-440

I'd appreciate any help you guys could give me.

It's NTSC. I ripped the image directly from my friend's CD.

try to set a virtual CD-ROM using daemon tool and run the iso from there. Epsxe 1.52 has problems running iso properly. Megaman Legend 2 is one of the few games that will not run in epsxe(only for iso). But if you use CD instead of iso, it will work fine.

Actually, I tried burning the iso to a CD (so I could play it when I get another modded playstation) and ePSXe won't run from that either. It gives me the same problem as the iso itself does. What I think I'm going to do is try to get ahold of a friend that has a modded playstation and test my disc to see if it even works. I don't see why it wouldn't, but you never know...

The game doesn't work for me if i make a ISo of it like MMl2.ISO
For some reason it wont work so try making a bin with www.isobuster.com or CDRwin and see if it works

I've tried that too, and still no luck. I should be heading to that friend's house soon, so I'll check to make sure my copy isn't busted or something.

I am getting the same problems. Mine is a "New" game, so it's never been played before, and the disc surface looks to be in good condition. I tried running it directly off the CD, but that didn't work. I made an .IMG file with CloneCD, but that didn't work either. I'll try making .BIN and .ISO files with ISOBuster, but I'm doubting that will work either. Luckily, I'll be at a friend's house tomorrow, and can try the original on his PSX.

Well, problem solved. I'm not sure exactly what the problem was, but my game is now working. Here is what I did:

I copied the CD onto my hard drive with Isobuster. It found bad sectors near the end of the data track, and I told it to omit all bad sectors it found. It found quite a number of them... :-) I told Isobuster to save the file, and then loaded it up with ePSXe. Worked just fine. The intro loaded up, right after the Capcom logo, and I proceeded to watch it. After I finally had control at the main menu, I told ePSXe to Switch Discs, and pointed it at the original copy of the CD I had made, and everything has been working ever since.

Just make sure you keep a saved state so that you can reload the game before it freezes up. I'm not sure what Isobuster deleted from the copy, but I'd prefer to know I have everything compared to nothing.

Hope this helps you.

ARGH! I hit a dead-end again. It's at the large crystal in the snowstorm. You examine a plaque below the crystal, and something like an earthquake starts, but the screen just continues to shake, no matter what I do. I'm going to try some other sound and video plugins, but I doubt that will fix it as easily as I would hope for.

Well, please keep me posted. The start of college kept me from ever going to that friend's house, so I never got a chance to test my disc. Good luck!

Okay, I found a detour around the dead-end... Again... ;-)

The game was supposed to play a couple sound clips as I approached the location I talked about, but it wasn't playing them with the CD or original ISO. I switched it back to the .BIN I made with Isobuster, and actually reset the game, loading up the saved state. Works just fine again. I switched back to the .ISO, and got the same problem on the third island you visit after you enter the sub-gate. I did the same thing as before, and used the .BIN version, and it worked fine.

Morale of the story: Use Isobuster, make a .BIN file, tell it to Omit all the bad sectors, and use that for your game. Some CD drives just can't handle certain types of subchannel data (which I think might be the problem).

Hmm... what's your CD Drive you are using to play the game, and how is it connected to your MB (SCSI or IDE)?

add this command line under epsxe "-cdtiming" then the black screen problem should be sloved.

I'm using an IDE Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-116. The firmware's fully upgraded, in case you ask.

Ah... Interesting... I also have a Pioneer DVD-ROM Drive that I use. But mine is connected via SCSI and it's DVD-105. Unsure on the speed of the DVD (oh wait... yours is prob 16x, and mine is 5x).

A call to other people that have this game, try it out using a Pioneer DVD-ROM Drive. It may be the drive that can't read some special copy protection or encoding method for this game.

Re: Mega Man Legends 2

The only two games I had problems with were "Mega Man Legends 2" and "Hot Wheels Turbo Racing". I used DRx to repair the surface of the Mega Man CD and it works fine, now. Apparently a small imperfection caused the lock-ups. (Unfortunately, I even purchased another copy of "Hot Wheels" and it still doesn't work)

please do not revive threads that are not relevant to the question you are asking, this thread had to do with actually getting the game to run and you are looking to troubleshoot a performance issue.

make a new thread and include your system specs and plugin setup along with screen shots of how you have them configured, without this information it is extremely difficult to assist with any kind of problem.
