Cowboy Bebop?! WHY?!

now, don't catch me wrong on this. Liquid, yer Avatar is cool and all, i just have other feelings towrds CB. i rented quite a few of them frommy local Videa store. maybe the first 6 or 8 episodes. and ya know, i realy didn'c care for them. i don't know why, but i hear about it all over the net. and many folks i meet in the real world don't care for it either. there has been but a handful of people hat i have met that like it. me, for soome realson i like Outlaw Stor more than CB. and don;t you say that i'mnot an anime fan. ive seen more anime than most peeps i meet. and the more i see, the more i see that suck. (no, that is true. any anime fan will say that Most Anime are just ripoffs of another). so i am wondering if anyone else here dosn;t like CB. the first few were cool, but after that, it didnt hold my interest anymore. How about the irresponsible Captian Tylor? or Bastard! orGSC? DTP? i know i shouldn't bring up DTP, but i cuoldn't help it. what about Al purpose Cat girl Nuku Nuku? i used to love the Ranma Manga, but i don't care for the series all that much. and i'll throw the dubbed right out my 2nd story window. The Japanese versions of DBZ are OK. the movies are the best, and that's how i know them, unfortunately. Gundam is tight, but most are too slow for me. Slayers.. well they had their moments. "Goury! is that the sword of light! can i have it?!" hehehe... orange road, is ok. not bad. .. well this is already too long... so, Neon Geninsis- SO TIGHT- and i jsut saw the movie, and want to see the one they released to "help clear things up," sorta speak. Lodess war, the first few were cool, then they kinda got old. Arislan... well those are alright, the the womanly looking prince and all. but it wasn;t that bad...
you tell me other good ones worth watching... series that is. movies are anothe topic. OH YEAH- and Rirouni Kinshen! cannot forget that- have you ever read teh manga? now that is tight! and don't mention blue seed, it just pisses me off- it's like everyone i rent is not for me, but everyont tells me that saw the wrong ones.

But can you guess my all time fave?

robotech is awesome but the second series sort of sucked compared to the first one w/ rick hunter and lisa hayes. the blonde girl and the whole tripling thing was okay, but at least the second series got more in depth than the first one.

cowboy bebop is a great series i have no idea why u dont like it and you shouldnt judge an anime without seeing the whole series first.... unless its something like kenshin or slam dunk.. IMHO cowboy bebop is 10 times better then robotech

Don't badmouth Cowboy Bebop. It's the only cool thing on from 11PM to 2AM (and I watch to that time, no sleep for me)

I will admit, it is quite confusing at first, but a couple of episodes later, you will start to get the picture of it. Some of the scenes are quite interesting and different. And the credits music are in French or some sort, is it dubed?

one of my favorites is Cowboy BeBop, and i agree with vivrantpig. watch it to the end, and then you can tell. also, don't miss the movie . and a big advice: never EVER watch dubbed anime. you'll regret it!

i have been watching anime for the longest while, but due to the places i've lived in, i haven't been exposed to a wide range. Cowboy Beebop however, i think is really cool. At first i didn't like it, but when i saw the last episode, i gave the series a second chance. the last episode alone was enuff to put that series above a lot of crap anime i've seen (like outlaw star but the ending song is nice). Rurouni Kenshin is one of the best things i've seen, and Captain Tsubasa will always be special. DBZ was entertaining most of the time, but the movies i've seen are so much cooler. I really want to see Neon Genesis Evangelion. Is the Irresponsible Captian Tylor that commedy about the commander of a space craft? If so, i didn't like it at all.

edit: Oh, and i think i saw a robotech movie lately but i'm not sure. It centers around 2 competing pilots and a girl that came between them. It also contains an AI popstar that goes insane and tries to take over...was that robotech? whatever it was, it was good. Especially the last few scenes.

I watched the whole series and I thought is was very stylish but wasn't a smooth flowing story. It seemed like just random episodes with a bit of the past thrown in here and there until the end.

All in all, I didn't care about the characters a great deal and thought it was quite boring to be honest. I mean I liked the action and it was funny at times but ended up as a time killing anime for me. The characters could have been much more interesting but I felt that they weren't developed enough to relate to on a "caring" level.

I give it a 6.5/10. I don't know what everyone seems to love it as it's pretty mediocre in my book.

Berzerk is another one that everyone seems to like that I just don't get. If it followed more closely to the Manga then it might've been better. The supernatural elements just weren't paced correctly and the ending provided no closure. Some ppl might think everyone just died if they forgot about the first episode.

Otherwise I thought the story was quite good. Very Shakespear-ish. The execution in bringing in the "true" plot was just poorly done.

In terms of character development I think Trigun and Kenshin did a good job. Granted Kenshin was a superlong series but I really enjoyed the characters. Part 2 of Seisouhen was really nice. Just a matter of taste I guess. I don't mean to generalize but I guess you can kinda think of it like how some people may prefer RPGs and some need a quick fix like Street Fighter or CS.

Yeah- the second series of Robotech was kinda weak. Macross Plus was pretty cool, and Macross II was cool, with Feff (The Bad dude in the Red Mech). i think that is the one you saw Andre, where they needed the singing to 'help win the battle.' that was kinda awkward for me. didn't get that... it made sence in the story, but it didn;t make sense to make that the plot... but i am totaly bias o Robotech anyway- when i was 3 i watched all eleven hours (japanese) in one day, like two or three times. so it was my introduction to both anime, and cartoons. then came along Transormers. i still watch that movie.
i probly will give Bbop another shot when i have nothing to rent. but i still believe it's not wahat everyone says it is.
YES Ping Pong club! i've been meaning to see that, but haven't found the time.

ah, that was it. It was the Macross Plus movie. The singing was actually a bad thing. It was messing with the main guys' head and threatened to hypnotize him. What he did do avoid it was one of the cooler scenes in the movie.

Yes, most anime does suck horribly. Cowboy Bebop is just another drop in the bucket -- an awful, pretentious show that's just another serial anime series. Woopee. I'm not even going to touch Gundam, Blue Seed or Dragonball -- these series are frigging terrible. But there I've gone pissing off 13-year-olds again...

However, what do you expect? Any cultural medium is going to have 99% crap -- especially on TV. I think that makes the really good stuff that much better.
