Do you know your Zelda's...?

I have heard a lot of people trying to rationalize how Zelda GCN is a sequel to the N64 games... For this answer I would like to say my opinion on it as well as backup my opinion with proof from past games.

If you have played every zelda game as I have you will notice a very distinct pattern to the games. Every 2 zelda games is a completely different Link and/or zelda. If you wish I will go over this one step at a time so you can see this.

Zelda 1 & 2 NES: One zelda one link.

Zelda 3 (SNES) and Zelda 4 (GB/C links awakening): one zelda one link.

Zelda 5 (N64) and Zelda 6 (N64): 1 zelda 1 link

Zelda 7(GBC oracle of seasons) and Zelda 8 (GBC oracle of ages): 1 zelda, 1 link.

The only one that anyone may say doesn't fit that is Zelda 3 and 4 since there is no real proof that they are linked.

Now if this rule holds true then we can expect that it's a new Link with a new mission... and since the series is named after Zelda you can expect the sequel to it (which will likely be GCN as well) will have her in it as well...

Gaming insight... it's all logic and patterns... that I usually mess up.

The story in Zelda NGC is about Link rescuing his sister(yep, looks like he has one ).

Well.....Zelda 9 (on NGC) will be followed by zelda 10 which will be on GBA and since the Zelda on GBA will be the same as Zelda 3 with a multiplayer option, Zelda 9 and 10 wont have a link.

Well thats what i think.....

I JUST beat the 1st world of Zelda1 on my NES about 20 mins ago with some friends.. I tried killing Ganon w/o the silver arrow... that didn't work out too well. Then I did it the correct way.. man that Staff list is pitiful. There's like 5 people that made the game or something.

Personally, I think it's all just one big coincidence. And there is no Zelda that I am aware of in the new Zelda game. (interesting how that sentence worked itself out.) But the game is still going to rule.

Since the GBA version of zelda is a remake it is not zelda 10... it's a port of zelda 3. Zelda 10 will most likely be on GCN and look and feel a lot like the GCN one coming out. I know the 1 GCN doesn't focus on Zelda but since the series is called Zelda and not link she will undoubtedly make a reappearance in the sequel.

The whole reason for every 2 links being different is so they can attempt a slightly different story using already proven good characters. Having Link have a family takes away from what we would expect from the other links. As far as we know the only other link to have a family was the one in 3 and 4 (his uncle) Nintendo likes trying new things with good characters... and to do that you sometimes have to cheat to get your way. Having different links and zelda's is the perfect way to do that.

Hmmm, still a new Princess Zelda with the same new look that they gave Link would be very funny, IMHO . Can't wait to see her. The game looks and feels great right now. Still, I must say that I would've really prefaired the Adult Link that appeared in the tech show of the NGC

Koji, I still think that the graphical style in Zelda 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7, 8, and 9 are all very similar. It is true that the plotline jumps around like crazy, but I still think it's all just one big coincidence.

Your theory is interesting nonetheless though.

Well,if you look at the story correctly, you'll see that all episodes fits together,Ocarina of Time being the start of the story(explains why how Ganon got into the Dark World and all).
Zelda 3 on SNES being the end(death of Ganon).
But it's almost never with the same Link, always a descendant(sp?) of him.

I thought that A Link to the Past was a prequel of sorts to the first 2 NES games? Whereas Ocarina of Time is the "first" game? and The Adventure of Link is the "last" game (so far)? But Zelda continuity is one convuluted can of worms at best, so who knows?

Let's admit that no one thinks about Wand of Gamelon, as a Zelda game .

2 things:
1.: as far as I know the GBA Zelda will be nothing but a cheap SNES-convertion.
2.: if i remember correctly in the SNES-zelda links uncle hinted that zelda might be his sister or something like that... at least i always thought so after what he said, i cant remember what it was though, it was too long ago ^_^

ahh yes you are correct Carmofin i thought you were wrong at first but i had to see for my self but as links uncle dies his last word are
"Zelda is your ... ... ..." so that hints something but i think it would be cooler if they wernt blood related step bro&sis but that would explain why link is always trying to get a kiss from her (in the cartoon) but that would make him insest :wtf:
but i want to see the gba game it would be sweet to play multiplayer with friends at zelda(something ive always wanted to do) and i did not know that the gbc games had one involved with zelda i think your mistaken it has to do with the triforce

but anyway the zelda series rocks and the cartoon rocks

I miss the Zelda Cartoon......

The one episode I remember most is where Link died or something to where he was like half-there in reality, phased partially like a ghost, and Zelda had to use Links sword for a while before they figured out how to get him back. You know what I'm talking about? I think the Triforce of Wisdom got split into 3 pieces in that episode, if I remember correctly.

The one quote I remember from it is, "You gotta aim, Zelda, you gotta AIM!" (Link said that).
