DirectX problems.....

everytime I start Snes9x I get the following message....

"Unable to intialise DirectSound. You will not be able to hear any sound effectsor music while playing.

It is ussually caused by not having DirectX installed, another application that has opened DirectSound in exclusive mode or the Windows VAVE device has been opened"

now, I don't know which one is, but as far as I know, SupraHLE doesn't give me sound either....... there sis any way to fix this?, how do I UNINSTALL DirectX (8.0).... besides, is there any way to know which application is doing this?

I'd just try reinstalling DX. If that doesn't work shut all background programs.

you can search google for the dx uninstaller, but beware, and follow ALL instructions fully otherwise your os may not boot...but as betamax stated, it would be better to just re install over your current version, sometimes dx files get corrupted, i have no idea why, my d3d8.dll was there, but it wouldnt work with hardware accelerated games, so i just reinstalled and it worked fine

Just install over it. I had a problem with DirectX myself, every game I would play, my computer would freeze after about 2-3 minutes, I just reinstalled and the problem disappeared. I know my problem isn't similar to your problem but reinstalling DX might help. Btw, I noticed you have 8.0, there is a ver 8.1 out so you can even get the latest version of DX. I hope that helps.

Why don't you just use ZNES? I use that and it really fast and capable!
