Thumbs down Erm..... Whops.

Alright I was busy updating my everything on my PC and downloaded some Firmware updates from Gateway it said 12XNEC which is what my burner says it is so I downloaded and flashed away. Only problem is that this wasen't my firmware . Now I can't even boot without removing the cables connected to it. I found my real Firmware online now how the hell can I get it onto my CDRW drive if it won't boot when its connected????

Flashing should be done ONLY if necessary for correcting serious hardware incompatibilities.... it's not like Windows Update or something that's done in a whim.

If it still had a warranty, i think you just voided it.

I'll update on a whim if it means more 3DMarks.

But I don't think there is much you can do Asz. Try returning it and say a power failure fried it. That's about all I can think of.

Sorry but it definately looks like you've busted it. You'll have to get a replacement. As shiori said, never flash without a very good reason.

The old batards at Gateway are giving me the work around. I say I flashed the BIOS wrong and that my computer only works with the RW drive unplugged so they tell me to check in Device Manager to see if Windows registers it. Whats a bunch of stupid losers. Then they tell me that I need to take it to one of the Gateway stores but I don't wanna do that because its just gonna take 644573454 years to get anything done.

I always flash the latest version. I just make sure I read the instructions thouroughly first. Never reset or power off while it's flashing.

Well Gateway says i'm still covered so no problem. All I gotta do is give them my Computer for a few days so they can confirm that it doesn't work (which should take 5 seconds). Then they'll order me a new RW, install it and everything will be great. Except for the fact that they'll probably reformat my harddrive to rule out anything which isn't a problem because I borrowed my friends burner and backed up "important" stuff.
