Somewhere in between. Its better than Ep 1 without a doubt but it's not amazing (although yoda is pretty slick with a lightsaber). In general I quite liked it, because the clone wars were different from what I expected.

That movie was awesome. Yoda is so cool. I love Yoda.

The visual effects are quite nice. It's soooooo much better than Episode 1. The kid that played Anakin was so annoying, and Jar-Jar Binks got on my nerves. At least this movie isn't so childish. I still really liked Episode 1 though. Don't get me wrong.

the first half was as bad as the worst parts in Episode I (and that is just plain awful), although the Obi Wan parts werent so bad. the love scene was both unbearable and laughable....

but things got strangely better when christohper lee got involved, and i mean strangely, i think almost everyone in the cinema forgot how bad the film was to begin with. anakin just had the worst lines and was totally unconvincing. natalie portman, hav buff she is, was sooo naff. the funniest part eva was when she got thrown out of some space ****, and was completely injured, then 5 mins later a guard asked her if she was ok, and she got up perfectly, everyone laughed. but ewen mcgregor was much better this time, and samuel L jackson was too. some things were just too cool. the story fits in perfectly (in Episode IV, Luke asks Obi Wan if he also fighted in the 'clone wars' with his father....and at the end of Episode II, yoda says sumthing along the lines of 'the clone wars, begun they have''). also the clever little twist about the corruption within the senate, although obvious, i didnt completely get to begin with...(wont reveal anything for those who havent seen it).

Personally i loved the movie. Everything about it. Although there were some weak dialogue, the love story proved to be very interesting. In fact, it was required. If Anakin did not fall in love, then their would be no Luke or Leia or Episodes 4, 5, and 6. Just something to think about.

yeah, i liked it, but it took a while to pick up. I'm still trying to figure out who was responsible for the clone army and why they were being built. Asides from that i enjoyed it much, now i gotta go see ep 1.

edit: Samuel L. Jackson's finishing move was one of the best parts, if u've seen it u know what i mean.

lol, that took me a while.
OK, if u HAVENT seen the movie, THIS WILL SPOIL some of the great story twists...

basically some other dead Jedi 'supposedly' gave orders to start a clone army for the Republic. but no-one new of it, and this info was only disclosed when Obi Wan meets with those really tall creatures (where the Fetts live/d) basically the clone army was intended to be part of a separtist movement against the corrupt senate which was falling apart. it was led by count doku. i think he wanted some sort of control re-established in the current Republic, like a dictatorship ( as does Anakin), as he saw the republic as some sort of flawed and failed democratic system. the reason he tried to assasinate Padme was cos she was the only person who was likely to reunite democracy with the Republic. all of this sort of mirrors Hitler's desires to transform the failed Weimar Democracy into a system of order (nice to see that Lucas was possibly adding a touch of satire into the series). even more confusing, is that Doku has moved to the Dark Side (led by the even more mysterious, Darth Sideous, who talks ironically similarl to Ex-Senator Palpatine....when i think Yoda or someone, cant remember, reveals that the dark side is within the senate, they are implying that Sideous = Palpatine, i could be wrong...i mean i imagined that palpatine would eventually take over siddeous or something, but now im not so sure). ok the real confusing part is that bit when Yoda flies in with the Clone Soldiers. Now that really ****ed me up. i think Yoda used the soldiers, as he new they were the only means to win that spectacular battle, and he was able to acquire them as Obi Wan previously revealed their place of manufacturing. so that sort of fits. but at the end he says that the clone wars hav begun, implying that the clones are really in control of the dark side, and that the whole separatist movement was inspired by the dark side.

when i first heard the title was called 'Attack of the Clones' i laughed, but now it all makes sense. also in Episode IV, they're mentioned when Luke asks Obi Wan if he fighted with his father (Anakin) in the 'Clone Wars'. i think the clone wars is gonna be the main focus of the 3rd film. also the senate will become the Empire led by the new Emperor Palpatine (he will become emperor, or he is the same Shadey Sith Lord in both Episode I and Episode II). cant wait (as u can see im quite a star wars fan ).

i didnt really like the movie that much... i dont really like star wars that much overall, i though that story was the same boring stuff as in episode one... however the thing i liked were the amazing light saber battles... gotta love those laser deflecting swords... however, 1 thing i didn't like was that there were no siths in the movie, like darth maul... those guys were pretty cool, imagine a jedi army against a sith army *thinks of lots of chaotic battles*

sincerely,
Strider

I generally agree with you, except that the bad first half takes about 70% of the film. The last 30 minutes are worth seeing, but till then... This guy playing Anakin... well, I bet his teacher in actor's school was Sylvester Stalone. There is obviously the problem that it isn't realy thrilling since you know right from the beginning that _all of them_ must survive in good health (otherwise, the story could not evolve in a way that leads to Part 4-6).

I don't think Doku knew about the clone army... the movie is a bit unlogical at this point. Why should Doku bother assembling his droid army (considering it the strongest army in the universe), when he knew about or even had access to the much stronger clones? On the other hand, this bounty hunter working for him _must_ know about those clones, why didn't he tell him?
When Yoda says that the clone wars have begun, it generally means that the times of peace and diplomacy has come to an end.

Doku knew about the clone army, his allys didn't, they were fooled. It was all a plot created by the darths so they would destroy the Jedis and take over the galaxy. The entire plot had started to be set more than 10 years ago. The clone army will end up tansforming the democratic senate in the dictatorial impire ruled by palpatin.

I've really enjoyed the movie!! I think the love scenes between Anakin and the princess were indeed needed, although I think that the set didn't had to be so obvious, all those to beautifull to be true landscapes were completely Yuuck!!

Another thing caught my eye. Owen Lars, Luke's uncle, claims to be Anakins half-brother (so they would be sons of the same mother). Well, if that was so, he would had to have at maximum 10 years old. Weird...

The next episode is a little more predictable. Palatin gains control of the clone army, the senate is no more, the princess ends up killed and the Jedis will be the ones blamed for it. Anakins seeks revenge, joins the dark side, he fights Obi wan, ends up completely beat up, and lives on with is robot body (has seen in IV, V and VI). Luke is delivered to is uncle by Obi Wan and Leia is delivered to the King of who-knows-who, and becomes princess. Doku is eventualy killed by Yoda. The last Jedis (Obi Wan and Yoda) hide out and wait for better times.
In the meanwhile the Imperor has gained access to the plans of the death star (Doku showed them, remember?).

And then...

Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope

It was the best movie since the Empire Strikes Back. Padme was hot and Yoda kicked a$$! Saw it opening night, it was well worth my $8 canadian dollars for the advanced ticket.

That's right. Only a real emergency would enable the chanceler to gain full power and to bring on the clones without anyone questioning.

You see. The story is a bit more complicated than it seemed. I think that there are some silly parts, but the plot is turning out great. I really liked the movie!!!

I've just remembered another weird thing. R2 and C-3PO already know Owen and Obi Wan. Shouldn't they remember it in episode IV? My guess is their memory will be erased in episode III.

U know what is really missing in episode I and II? An anti-hero, like Han Solo. U know, those litle crack jokes, that scrappy looking, and that "Who cares" style, that everyone likes! I hope someone like that apears in episode III.

For me Episode II comes right second after The Empire Strikes Back, which still is the best Star Wars movie.

Now waiting for the Episode II DVD and Episode III release...

not true. Only 5 years difference. Not too many years, although arguable. Personally I think it's fine.
