Use a damp cloth to clean the cartridge's contacts. The actual console is much trickier. I have bought a NES cleaning kit, and it does the trick.

You might also want to put something in the console to push the cart all the way down. For some reason it makes it work better. (usually.). Just be persistent. It will work eventually.

Heh, the god ol' nes. I remember that. Mine is collecting dust. I remember blowing into the cart and sometimes that would work. But, I don't think it works anymore with my system cause most of the time, it would work but reset all the time after about 1-2 sec it resets so that idea might not be effective. About putting the cartridge all the down is a good idea cause none of my games work normally anymore. All I did was roll up a small peice of cardboard and had it inbetween the cart and the top part of the nintendo.

I remember trying to get that stuid thing to get to work. Sometimes, the LED blinks on and off, sometimes there will be no picture, and sometimes the game just freezes

there was a way to do this:

put in the game cartridge dont press down yet.

pull it out just a teenie weenie bit and press down.

when you press down it should be tight.
