Yep, X-Men Vs. Street Fighter is the first one. After that, they released Marvel Vs. Street Fighter, then Marvel Vs. Capcom.
I don't think they're any other tag before that. They probably get the idea after making Marvel Super Heroes.

They were originally released for arcade machine. Then they released the console versions, I really forgot what. Sega Saturn maybe? I've only played the PSX version. In case you didn't know, there are some changes in PSX version. The obvious one is the crossover option has been edited.

I know that X-Men vs. Street Fighter was released for PSX and IIRC Saturn as well. I'm pretty sure there was also a port of Marvel vs. Capcom to the Dreamcast.

Yes, there was a DC port of Marvel vs Capcom. Me and my friends used to play on it for hours on end. It was a near flawless port of the arcade game.

Omega_Vermelho: Only the most recent shots were messed up. The older ones are still there.

The sega saturn had xmen vs sf and Marvel super heroes vs SF.. Both were exceptional ports thanks to the ram cart.. Everything from the arcade versions have been retained, unlike the psx versions.. I have both games.. The saturn version of MSH vs SF had that japanese mailman character which you could play with..

Marvel vs CApcom was released for the Dreamcast and psx.. The dreamcast version is the better of the 2 of course, but strangely, the characters on the Dreamcast version appeared smaller than their arcade counterparts..

Luckily, thanks to emulation, I am able to play all these wonderful arcade classics on my computer and online via kaillera netplay..

FYI.. THe oldest Marvel characters arcade fighting game is Xmen COTA..

xvs.13 is the name of one of the ROMs for xmen vs sf. Of course, you have to find that yourself

there is only marvel vs capcom 1 & 2... the oldest vs series is the xmen vs street fighter, but isn't so cool... The Marvel Vs. Street Fighter is the more cool (u can choose Norimaro, hehe...). All them are to PSX 'n Arcade, but the PSX versions are too bad (no crossover, no tag team...)

ok, i got everything i need to run this particular game. but, that error, xvs.13(f6684efd), keeps coming up. i put the nececessary files in a zip file, named it "xmvsf," and put it in the "roms" folder, all as told to do. what might be wrong?

X-men vs. SF was the best CPS2 vs. game IMO. MSH vs. SF had way too many "Shotoclones" on the SF side and no new marvel characters. M vs. C had too many original characters on the Capcom side and only one on the marvel side.

SInce romsites for MAME are dropping like flies (thanks to extortionist bandwidth costs), you're much more likely to find what you need on IRC.

Xmen vs SF had way too many cheats though. Cheap tactics like throw -> hypercombo and the infamous infinite air-combos. MSH vs SF did have some new marvel characters like Shuma Gorath, Blackheart, Omega Red and the Hulk. And I wouldn't call the Capcom characters in MvsC original at all. They're mostly shoto-clones, including Megaman, Morrigan and Chun Li. The only truly original character in the game were Jin and Venom.
