Yes, AFAIK, but I use Win2k not XP. But I'm pretty sure you'd need to have a Game Port device installed first. Here's my Device Manager if that helps any; |

Well you should be able to add a standard 2-button joystick, even if you don't have one connected. Also see here http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthre...threadid=17755 for a test utility which doesn't need drivers. |

i tried installing NTPAD on the computer downstairs and it worked just fine. i could also randomly add joysticks to the panel and that worked too. i don't know why it doesn't work on this comp...and they're both under Windows XP...i really don't want to reinstall the OS... oh, but NTPAD failed to recognize my pad. it kept on saying it was disconnected, so i don't know where to go from there...

Since you have verified that everything works on another computer I am beginning to suspect your LPT port. My utility will confirm that for you, one way or the other. |

have u rebooted your computer? mine also has almost the same problem, but when i restarted it, NTPAD runs very smoothly. CMIIW, the PS chinese driver corresponds to PS JoyPad2K. It's similar, but I prefer NTPAD. And another thing, I still use ECP/EPP port in my BIOS and it doesn't affect the gamepad whatsoever. ~sithspawn

oh yeah, if i'm not mistaken, u should manually add a second game port (preferrably Standard Game Port), other than your usual game port. Set any non-conflicting address u have for the second game port. And after installing AND rebooting, you should now be able to add an NTPAD controller on the second game port. Hope that helps ![]() ~sithspawn

Type 'd:' to change to the d: drive, then 'cd foldername'. Or there's a nifty utility in the Power Toys which lets you right-click on any folder and do 'Command Prompt Here' - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp. |

Port: The LPT port number and it's I/O address Clock Rate: The controller communcation speed, bigger is slower. You could try a slower speed 'psxtest -p1 -c10', but I don't think this is the problem. The next line says that your CPU supports RDTSC and it's speed is approximately 826*1.19318 = 985MHz (overclocked? This is more accurate under DOS though). When you press a button or the digital pad the 0 should change to 1 (Ci = circle, Tr = triangle, Cr = cross etc.). The X1/Y1/X2/Y2 values should change from 00 to FF as you move the analog sticks (make sure the controller is in analog mode). If nothing happens, and the lead and controller definitely work on another PC, then I'm afraid there's something wrong with your LPT port. The most likely cause is that it can't supply enough power to drive the controller. Did you ever have it working under any OS? |

Whoops, wrong image This might be true in NT 4.0, not in Win2k/XP. The OS will emulate direct access from a virtual dos session. Here's the program running on my Win2k system; |

Get a utility to create a DOS boot disk from here http://www.amptron.com/utilities/DOS60.EXE if you think XP is the problem. Trying it on another computer is definitely a good idea.
