SPiderweb Software game: Geneforge

This is the msot addictive game since Exile 1 and also the most difficult. I'm playing on the Easy difficulty and finding it very difficult.
How do I evolve my creations?
I have a Vlish and I want to evolve it into a Evil Vlish (I think thats what it's called). I'm playing a Guardian.
Anyhoo what would be my requiremetns etc... for it?

(Anyone who thinks this game is even slightly similar to pokemon better play this game.)
