Stuck in Xenogears

Hello everybody,

I am stuck somewhere in the beginning in Xenogrears, I am at the point where i fell into a cave after a (the first) fight with bart in the dessert. I have to shot down those sandcontrol units, one is very simpe, but i can't reach the otherone, this one is located near the place where you fell into the cave, it is above the stone you push away.
So the question is how do I get to this sandcontrol unit?

if i understand correctly, the way to reach the one you're missing is to go to the area where ol man bal is and there should be a path in the northwest.

yep, there is 1 screen with 4 different ways to go... ol man bal's, the way you came in through, the exit (where you leave later, sorta looks like a blast door) and then to the oppostie side of ol man bals is another path, keep following it and you'll end up on the dirt catwalk

The problem with Xenogears is sometimes gamers can't familiarized with the positioning and map condition, with the screen can be spinned around, it can gives headache. But don't worry, as the dungeon aren't as complex as Ultimecia's Castle or Kefka's Tower, it's quite short and easy, except the Babel Tower of course.

About the sand control units, you can find one in the room where the repairbot are. The other one is somewhere in the other room, I can't remember where is it. Just keep trying, try jumping onto cliffs, you'll find it eventually. Good luck.

I thought the interior of the final Deus was pretty confusing... actually REALLY confusing, hehe. Kislev sewers can be tricky too if you don't use the map and/or if you rotate the camera alot to confuse yourself. Most of the other maps are pretty easy to navigate... the only thing is you gotta make sure to rotate the camera often so that you can see everything, like ledges above and below you - even if they're not the right way to go, there's often treasure chests hidden away in those hard to see spots!

i hated the jasper ship part, it sorta confused me with all those hallways... theres 1 things i sorta hate though and that is that i know who exactly the last boss is... i mean, if i knew his name was deus then i would be ok, but i know the latin meaning of deus so i think i spoiled the ending a bit -_-'

Yeah the last maze took me FOREVER to figure out how to get to all the platforms cause I always got lost when I left the platform room. Not knowing you could climb those "stairs" to move the platforms also gave me a headache until I figured it out hours later. Argh.

Walkthroughs? No!!! I refuse, at least on my first time through a game... If there are some extras that I'll never figure out or really don't have the patience for I'll consult the walkthroughs... like getting all the endings in CT and CC is definitely worth it, but not worth having to play and beat lavos a billion times to see when a new ending will be triggered... good thing the walkthrough authors did that to save the rest of us time!

Why did you need a walkthrough to learn the deathblows in Xenogears? Don't you just learn them over time if you vary the button combinations and don't keep on reusing previous deathblows? And having on those deathblow learning rings helps too

As long as you remember that all of the combinations end with an x button and that it never pops up before then (well, except for Fei ), it really is just random combinations set up in a hierarchy of more powerful attacks (based on a weak or medium attack) and higher required levels. However, that isn't particularly obvious at first glance. Actually, that can be said about all of Xenogears, just like that stupid cave that's actually pretty easy but does not appear to be at first.

The Deathblows only can be aquired when you don't use Death Blows. So try some combinatiosn of buttons that are not Deathblows

I believe one of the first tutorial guys in that hut in Lahan kinda hint at the fact that you can't re-use deathblows too if you wanna learn new ones. I found it fairly obvious and always varied the button sequences without reusing the old ones just cause I figured that was the way to do it... But I guess I know alot of people who just thought you get deathblows eventually as time goes by using any kinds of attacks, just like you learn the special abilities (Chi, Arcane, etc) by reaching certain levels and in other RPG's you get new attacks simply by levelling up. I like doing it anyway, cause each character has his/her own fighting style and it's fun to beat the enemies up in all different ways! :bash:

In my opinion, the most common way to learns deathblows is to practice the moves next to the desirable deathblow. For example, to learn Citan's Festive Wind (TTTX), you would just have to do the next moves, I think it's TTSX and TSTX. Equipping Wizard Ring will make it easier. Of course, you would need to gain some level for some moves, otherwise the moves would show only as 100 in the menu. If I'm not mistaken, Fei won't learn his last skills until his level is around 80.

That is correct. I aquired his last skill when he was at level 68, but I needed to be at level 80 to use it. The other last moves require less though, It;s only his ultimate move that requires so much
