I hardly ever do it. I only format my pc when it's strictly necessary, when it's really dying. Otherwise, I just use regularly some defrag, norton utilities, some check-ups in the registry, etc.

I do the same as Zephon and Beta. I see no reason to go through all the trouble once every couple months if u can defrag ur hd and clean up just about everything netime u want (much easier IMO)

I only format my computer when something's seriously wrong with it or I make some major hardware changes to it (e.g. mobo).

Since I've been using Xp I haven't had to reformat for a while. I used to format every weekend when I used 98.

For a while I was switching back and forth from ME to 98. ME doesn't really have anything useful that 98 doesn't have except that 98 has Real DOS mode.

I donno, I like formating and installing windows. I keep win98 for a month, then next month is M.E.'s turn then comes 2000 and Finally XP.
I like to change windows as I don't want my older windows to be useless and catch dust.

That's some hobby you got there.

As for me, I only reformat when I get more BSODs than usual on Win98SE, and when I feel like trying stuff like Linux.

I rarely reformat, I've usually built myself a new computer and handed down the old one to my sister or torn apart for spare parts by the time that I would need to, so I only reformat when Bad Things happen, which sadly they did at the beginning of Spring Break.
