Well that's crazy.....but perhaps I better start paying attention to BSNES or whatever it's going to become now.

Interesting. It is becoming a multi-platform emulator of sorts.

...complete with incomprehensible name and too complex folder structures. I'm all for accuracy but I think it's starting to lose its goal now. |

For me game folders makes 0 sense I use single rom files and the emulator normally keps track of the rest of the things like saves and savestates if I ever use them which I do not. unless of course I have a hack for the rom then I keep the one I am pkaying which is usually the hack in the rom folder and the clean rom is packed up safe in an archive on one of my external HDDs I dont go for simple hacks I go for the complete conversion hacks such as parelle worlds for Zelda Link to the past for example. Unless the hack is clearing up some bugs or spellchecking the games I dont use hacks that just change items or something small like that in a single game its either full conversions or simple bug fixing that I go after. Unless of course I have played the game far to many times and just want to rebalance it ala Elder scrolls series.

Aaaand this is why I stick to Snes9x 1.53+. Hell will freeze over before one catches me using Zsnes however.

BSNES, regardless of it's recent add-ons, is the most accurate SNES emu. And no one mentioned ZSNES here, though I'd use it for nostalgia purposes.

Wow! From SNES to DS. What a surprise. Will it conquer all Nintendo goodies including Gamecube/Wii? Let's see

Accuracy is important, but it's also important to be able to play the games. An emulator it's like a console, if you can't play games easily it's missing the point. I want to love this emulator, but each release it's more confusing than the one before.

Aaaand that's why I stick to Snes9x 1.53, which is the second most accurate snes emulator without exorbitant system requirements.

BSNES is intended for a certain audience. If you have the right machine and the know-how to configure it then its a great choice as far as emulation goes. If you don't like it you don't have to download it. The great thing about the emulation scene for early systems is the amount of choice the users have. Use what you wanna use, live and let live. Everyone ends up having more fun this way
