Like I said, I'm not all "old fashioned".
And liking your own sex isn't acceptable according to half the world's population (roughly?) - either by the old or new ways.

That you (and Xblade) wouldn't long for the good old days since the good old days accepted your preferences even less...and if you still don't get it then nevermind, it was only an insignificant side point.

Just furthers our point that "the old days" weren't any better than current days. People were more ignorant on average.

No no, the yet was meant to be that it isn't accepted yet, not that you haven't converted yet. As the world continues it's path towards utter sexual abandon it'll inevitably be acknowledged along with those regulated school orgies and the indecent exposure law ceasing to exist.

You just equated my sexuality with regulated orgies and indecent exposure laws.

Good job.

I'll take my leave of this thread now, there is nothing I'm interested in discussing.

Well that wasn't quite my intention, those were merely the highlights of utter sexual abandon I could come up with but they weren't intended to be equal in level of sexual freeing.

There are no side effects to a healthy sex life, provided you either do it with the same person(s) who in turn only do it with the same person(s), and you use condoms if either you or your partner(s) have sex with someone else. I dare you to say otherwise.

Kids are going to eat, kids are going to be fat, how is that different?
Again; relevance?
Teaching the kids a healthy way of living =/= shoving your morals down their throats.

Way to totally miss the point. Bullying, homophobic behaviour (bullying), alcohol/drugs are all harmful to kids. Either mentally, physically or both.
Sexual experimentation with protection is neither.

With regards to what Schumi said (equally bull****), Xblade and Thanakil basically said what I would've.

With every single generation, the older people have had the opinion that the youth have gotten worse, and had decaying morals. If that was true, we would all roll in dog **** and whatnot.[/QUOTE]

You miss the point that if you assume kids are going to screw you can assume other things as well, and yes, children having sex is bad. Children are rarely in monogamous relationships, they tend to have short, intense, relationships. Just using contraception isn't going to take care of all the consequences of childhood sex.

Childhood sex is as bad as obesity and other behavioral issues.

I don't. Your opinion basically says (from my perspective) "I know it's wrong, but since they're going to do it anyway why bother to stop them from trying?" Which side are you on? Are you hot or cold? Lukewarm doesn't cut it.

Spoiler:
"I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." - Revelation 3:15-16

She didn't imply it was wrong, she said there were downsides and upsides to it. Definitely not a "black and white" issue.

I think the argument that giving out protection is promoting underage sex is a not that applicable. We're talking about teens here, at the best of times those teens are hornier than me, they sure don't need permission or a nudge to want to have sex. They're also horny enough to cave in and do it without protection before their brain gets a chance to think and they're too inexperienced to understand the real consequences of having a kid.

Also, proms in America are like old age in Scotland. American proms are well over the Scottish age of consent.

I have to agree with Kaizen here with an asterisk (*). The human body is generally sexually active during teen years by design/evolution. Today's society IMO just makes it more frusterating to endulge in your sexual desires. What I mean is that back in the old days, people got married in their teens and early 20s and raised their own families. When you create sexual tension(s), the more frustration you'll experience and will likely do whatever you can to "bust a nut" (I've been there). Nowadays, that's borderline taboo. Considering that, teens shouldn't be shamed into believing sexual desire is wrong because it's perfectly normal, but at the same time should be mature enough to show some restraint when necessary.

I'm aware of this (including the ups and downs), but she didn't have to imply it is wrong because I can read her like book. I know her on a fairly personal level.

And I hold no one's opinion against them.

I'm sorry but I think its unhealthy for immature children who can't take care of themselves to engage in promiscuous sex. Until someone is able to take care of him/herself and deal with the consequences of his/her sexual behavior, I don't think its a good idea to engage in sexual intercourse.

How many teenage girls wind up either having abortions, carrying a pregnancy, get stuck having to raise a child on their own? How many boys become financially responsible for a baby before they can support themselves?

How many single mothers, sexually transmitted diseases, divorces, abortions, broken families, child abuse cases do we need?

Recreational sex has caused a lot of damage to society, and hurt male and female relations in the process.

And I agree 100%, but I was indirectly hinting that society has made marriage (getting married and staying married) more difficult than what it was originally designed to be, hence the reason we have all of these problems today.

I can hear the nay sayers saying "Well, if we teach young people to be more responsible..." *buzzer* stop right there. Face it, generally speaking they aren't responsible or mature enough for to engage in casual sex (this is true for adults too). Fools despise wisdom, therefore teaching them "safe sex" just isn't going to work. It never has and it never will.

People have made staying married harder.

The whole BS from people like "Ann Landers" "are you happier with or without your spouse", the whole school "self esteem" nonsense, no fault divorce, annulments, "sexual" liberation, that's all made people care too damned much about themselves and not enough about others.

It is common knowledge that states that tend to focus on more liberal/progressive means of birth control (condoms, contraceptives) have a lower rate of teen pregnancies and STDs than states that focus on conservative and theological forms of birth control (abstinence, faith-based)

You will never fight nature and come out victorious. There's a damn good reason why puberty happens, and it's no right of the government to suppress such instincts

Whoever said government should intervene? In fact it was government that teaches nonsense like self esteem, abortion on demand. Its the government that has people acting like self serving jerks who see others as objects to be used for their pleasure.

People need to stop thinking about themselves as the only ones that matter and start realizing that they are part of a community of people and that the group matters more than the self.
