Need help install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to USB Pendrive
I had installed "ubuntu-12.04-desktop-i386.iso" to my 8GB USB Pendrive using "Universal-USB-Installer-1.8.9.6". It did boot well. I had install a software and update WiFi driver. But when I did a restart, the OS back to default again. No installed software and driver. Even a files that I add while in the OS was gone. Any tips? Thanks.

Is that meant to be a normal installation, or just the liveCD mode with persistent storage enabled? It seems you had it running in liveCD mode and without persistent storage. LinuxLive USB Creator should handle the second situation well and better than unetbootin This app can also add Virtualbox so you can use the distro from within a Windows instance running. If you want to install a permanent portable linux system on that pendrive, a normal installation can be done, you just have to install on that pendrive only (ext4, 2 partitions should be ideal I guess, 1 for the system for you to slim to your liking, the second for 'home', and make sure the bootloader is installed on that pendrive, not in replacement for your normal workstation's bootloader. This way, the pêndrive's distro can boot anywhere you connect it. Persistence would be the least troublesome option for small use like web and office uses, but a traditional installation would be comfier. Last edited by Hard core Rikki; May 15th, 2012 at 14:36.. |

It seem that "Universal-USB-Installer-1.8.9.6" don't have option to enable persistent data. Need to use UNetbootin Working well now. Thanks for the help.
