Buying laptop

I hate laptop, but it seems like I have to get one this time.
Desktop is not gonna fly as I will be traveling around.

I am currently in France, and there is a high chance that I will move to Ireland.
Is anyone in Ireland or France?
Where would be a good place to buy a laptop? online or in store?
Which country is cheaper?
If I buy a laptop in France, I will still need to buy a new power adapter in Ireland, however.

It's gonna be a workstation laptop, so high performance, I can careless about battery life, I'll just plug it in the whole time.
I already have a netbook, so I have alternatives if I really need battery life on a trip.
No Mac, just windows based pc. Not that I don't like the product, I just don't like the company... so, I will not support Apple product, haha.
Apple is a terrific company, if not one of the best, in business point of view, but it is a terrible figure on the consumer side...

Any input will be much appreciated!

Just... how powerful are we talking about here? Weight? Thin and light? Other metrics?

Without anything to go with (other than that you don't want Apple's stuffs), I think I'll just throw this out for consideration:

http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/sto..._Z_SERIES_PAGE

Sony Vaio Z.

You can config it up to a Core i7 with Turbo up to 3.5GHz.
RAM can be config up to 8GB.
SSD comes standard.

That's the absolute best portability that I think you can ever get. The screen can also be config to a whooping 1920 x 1080 resolution, which means it easily surpasses most laptops under its price tag.

But if the dual-core CPU is too whimsical:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-...k.73636.0.html

It runs an Ivy quad that has Turbo up to 3.6GHz, which is to say, it's almost on par with stock high-end Sandy chips, and definitely beat a lot of chips underneath it. It'll blaze through PCSX2 like butter.

Also RAM comes installed with 16GB (4x4GB) so you'll never run out. Theoretically, I think you can also do 4x8GB to bring that to 32GB should your appetite for editing images that clip Photoshop's max image size is still not sated.

GPU is GeForce GTX 670M, so it ain't half bad.

Screen is 17.3" 1920 x 1080 with 120Hz refresh rate and 3D support, so I'm quite certain you won't miss out on much... if anything.

Those are my top suggestions. But I think... you might be looking for something totally different from those 2.

The Asus one looks awesome! Adding that to my list to consider.

I am a little bit afraid of Sony due to the battery problem they had before, but if no longer the case, then I'll consider it. However, it will be on the low priority list.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the purpose.
I'll be blasting C++ coding with it.
Will do play-testing for games as well.
I'm using my workstation in the States as my rendering mule, so it won't need to do maya rendering.

It can weight like a brick and drain electricity like a vampire under the sun. I don't care much about that in this case.
As long as it fits into a bag and lasts more than 30 min on battery, it's fine.
I just need good price/performance ratio.
While performance is importance, I don't want something that is 4k euro.

I'm not buying it yet, as my future plan is still uncertain.
Might be in Ireland, might be in France, or might be somewhere in Europe/Asia.
If my company is going to buy me a laptop, then I won't need to buy one.
I will need one if otherwise.

I will be using it for simulation work and coding engines.
I will be using CUDA, so only Nvidia cards.

I might be able to get a company deal too if I buy it through my company, so I majorly need the laptop model to buy if recommended, not the location.

I still drawn towards ASUS, however, as I have quite a few ASUS parts/products and I love them.

I rather want capability more than performance.
A model with the latest CUDA core would be preferable.
Quadro laptop would cost too much xD

(I own only HP stuffs)

But honestly, here's an HP offering:
http://www.logicbuy.com/deals/coupon...top/15717.aspx

IMO, it looks a bit... nicer than the ASUS one. Though the CPU is "downgraded", RAM is also "downgraded" (looks like you only get 2 slots), and GPU is... well, also "downgraded".

But hey, it looks nice.

Honestly, though, I still think that ASUS G75V is serious hardware. And here's a kicker: it also comes with a Thunderbolt Port. Now... barring the fact that the port was co-developed by Intel with a certain fruit company, its high IO performance means you can connect dedicated external processors to that computer and stack processing power.

So if you don't like the internal GTX 670M, I think you can connect a better GPU any day. Or maybe connect an external Quadro card to there.

So far, I have seen video processors (up to dual-4K streams in real time).

Just bought ASUS A43s for my cousin. Nice specs, cheap and less problem seen in the internet. Lenovo products also a nice choice.
