Getting Service on my Cell Phone
I am not so sure I will be able to activate my new (used) Droid X through Verizon, as I owe them $77 for mobile service I previously had through them. The $77 is for the activation fee and a partial months service despite having service and the phone for less than a week. Correct me if I am wrong, but if I already own the phone is it possible to avoid a credit check (since I have bad credit) and being locked into a two year contract and just go with the month to month service? Is there any way of getting service on my phone without talking to Verizon over the phone, via the web? I can't seem to find where to order service via the web if it is even possible. Currently my phone doesn't have a number assigned to it and isn't activated. I was thinking about flashing to Cricket but it seems to be a long, complicated process that requires an expensive commercial application. |

In short, no. You can always opt for a pre-paid plan, but I think Verizon only allows certain phones to work that way. (Pretty sure it's locked in firmware.)

Well that sucks. Looks like my only options are to pay the $77 bill, flash the phone to use Cricket or go with a mobile service that uses Verizon towers. So it seems I am out of luck until next month. Flashing the phone to Cricket is something I don't really want to bother with, I'd rather have someone else do that for me if I go that route so I don't mess anything up. |
