Question Doubts about my HTPC - Acer Aspire AR1600

Well guys, i got a new hdd, so i hooked it back to my tv.
Everything is running perfect, but i have some questions:

1) It has 3GB RAM, but on System Properties is says something like:
Memory(RAM) 3GB (usable: 2GB).
Is it because of the ION Nvidia GFX? I watch movies @ 720p only, because of my tv. Could i lower the amount of RAM the GFX card is using? Right now i think it's set to use 512MB.

2) I want so access the HTPC from work, so i could control.
What's the best/easiest way to do it? I've been told to use LogMeIn or TeamViewer. People don't use VNC anymore?

It's connected wired to my router, until i manage to get a better wifi card.

Thanks in advance.

If your graphic card is sucking up ram, you should be able to change it in the driver somewhere.
If you are running windows as OS, then just use remote desktop.

It won't log out, it will just go to the switch user screen.
When you close remote desktop, it will just resume.
You can think of it as 'pause' rather than 'log out'.

Unless you have a server edition of windows, you cannot log on from two places at once.

It's working great! I downloaded 32GB of stuff yesterday!
Now another question, should i update Windows 7 to SP1 and all further updates?
If i do, and i reboot it, will i be able to remote connect to it? Or it needs to be logged beforehand?

As long as your CPU/HDD don't go to sleep/hibernation, you should be find with restarts.

Question RDP problem

Well i'm updating to SP1 now.

But another thing happened.
I opened port 3389 on my router, to access my htpc from work.
And it did work fine, but i had to keep taking notes on my IP, since it's dynamic.

I created a free account on dyndns to solve this problem, and fixed the local IP for my htpc on my router, not letting it set a random IP through it's DHCP.

But now i can't connect to remote desktop through out the internet anymore.
I think the router is the problem here, although i have re-done the procedure like 20 times.

I can still connect using local IP(192.168.x.x).

I even tried disabling windows firewall, but no go.

Here's some screens:

So it doesn't work both with your DynDNS domain and your current IP address?

Yeah it's not working anymore.
Before i changed the router settings, i would go to Remote Desktop, type my internet IP like 200.230.43.234 and it worked just fine.

I think i'll reset the router to factory settings and reconfigure it. If it doesn't work i'll try to use LogMeIn.

Very odd. Try changing the external port to something else (for example, I use 30000-30002 to remote into three of my PCs at home). To connect with the standard remote desktop client, enter your DynDNS address or IP, a colon, then the port number you chose (ex: 76.47.128.49:12345).
