FF7: Strange crash on Disc 2
SPOILERS! Late in Disc 2 you must return to the City of the Ancients with Bugenhagen to investigate the cave there to locate the Holy materia. After Bugenhagen uses the "key" to create the waterfall that pours over the giant crystal in the center of the cave he asks you to step inside. When I do, the screen goes black but I can still see the white glove that indicates your character's location, the screen then becomes visible for a moment before it returns to black again and remains that way, the game then makes a beep noise (the same noise it makes when you try to use a greyed out item in your inventory, etc) and I am left unable to interact with the game in any way. The last issue I had with FF7 on ePSXe was a cutscene that failed to play when one of the Weapons attack you at Junon. All that was needed to fix that was to create a proper save on one of the virtual memory cards and reload from that save rather than a savestate. I've tried that solution with this problem but no dice. Two things that I think may count as factors contributing to the issue: 1. I've been using savestates religiously, only creating the odd "virtual save" every now-and-then to avoid the issue I had at Junon repeating itself 2. I collected the Key to the Ancients some time before I took Bugenhagen to the cave. Although I suppose the fact that he used the key anyway means that the game doesn't care either way Maybe someone here might be able to help me? Thanks in advance. |

Kaizen? Didn't you help me with my last issue? Wow. Thanks, bro! All you need to do is get me past that damn cutscene with Bugenhagen. I swear I can't stand to look at his freaky pointed beard thing and Ozzy Osbourne glasses for one more second. Oh, and you can use either of the saves on this memory card. |

I'm sorted. Turns out that I was just using a bad rip. Downloading a different image seems to have fixed the problem entirely. If only my original game discs had not deteriorated long ago I wouldn't have had to put up with this rubbish! Moral of the story, as I'm sure Kaizen will agree: |
