I don't remember having this problem before I tried to use epsxe_shark, but now no matter what version of the emulator I use (with or without epsxe_shark) OpenGL2 lags like crazy. I am talking an average of 22 FPS on a Phenom II Quad, with a 6870 video card. There is no way this is normal... what can I do to fix this? Direct3D works fine, but it has far less options and has not been updated in forever. It also has vsync issues as vertical scrolling causes a tear down the middle of the screen. I was excited to replay Chrono Cross with some of the issues fixed, but now it seems like all I did was make performance worse somehow. Eep. x_x |

I don have Radeon, but the Nvidia control panel have "fixed" option for graphics perfomance. ("nice", "average" , "oh my god" or so...) Check your settings. I have a dual core 2,7, and 1 gb nvidia card. And Chrono Cross works perfect. (the opengl2 plugin setted in "NICE" ) Edit: opengl works poorly under windows 7, but not THAT bad... Yeah, that's what I mean. It's bizarre because my system is quite good and I can, if I have to, use Opengl on other applications without any problems. But for some reason it runs like total ass with epsxe. My card is pretty high end, my system isn't godly, but it isn't anywhere near bad (3.2 phenom ii) with 6 gigs of ram. Should not be struggling with it for psone emulation. ![]() I found another emulator called PCSXR which allows the use of the GSDX plugin from the playstation 2 emulator, but I don't know how stable/compatible this emulator is compared to epsxe, either, so I dunno if I want to use it. The plugin is fast and I can jack up the internal resolution as high as I want, etc, which is great, but I've never heard of this reloaded version of the emulator so I don't even know how well it's going to run my games. I'd really just like openGL to work on epsxe because I understand this emulator and have a few backup versions for glitchy games or disc swapping. Sigh. |

Sorry guys, I am an idiot. I didn't notice that when I switched to epsxe_shark, it changed all my settings to default which reset my graphics memory to autodetect. Supposedly there is some glitch with the emulator and Radeon cards where undefined videocard memory leads to tremendous slowdowns in OpenGL1 and 2. I should have noticed that, but it's never been a concern before so I didn't. Thanks for attempting to help anyway, glad I caught a thread about this when searching about vsync incompatibility in D3D mode here. Cheers. |
