No, but then again, I wouldn't spend that much on a Playstation 3, Xbox 360, AND Wii with with all of their titles (and that probably comes out to over that). Heck, I wouldn't spend $2,500 on all that, even though it be a "steal". Depending on the rarity of some games, I'm not sure what it's "worth" though. To me, no, it's not, but it could be to someone else.

Well it would be advantageous if you wanted a backed up copy of all the games...

One could aim to be the fastest collector in the world and join the guiness book. With the revenues from your possible advertising, maybe this would pay for itself along with giving you fame, glory and a place on a guiness record documentary.

A friend of mine just found a SNES rom dumper in the attic, I could see use for that collection. It just takes a bit of time

Wow, that's a great collection. If money weren't an issue I would probably buy it but as it stands if I had $10k+ laying around it would probably be better spent paying off my car.

I have to admit though I have started to miss the original hardware and games as of late. I recently bought a Sega Genesis and an SNES off of eBay and I'm contemplating buying a Virtual Boy. The toughest thing about buying retro equipment like this is most of it is in poor condition and consumables like controllers are very hard to come by in new/like new condition.

No way. My collection is for games I want/like, not for having games for the sake of having them. Besides, I think all the SNES games I want have been ported.

For most, it's about the nostalgia. Many are retro gamers/collectors, and just hooking up a Wii and heading off to the marketplace might not be the same as a basement with a Super Nintendo, Nintendo, Sega, and a load of old games. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, as it represents our fondest memories and times, and time, unlike money, can't be replaced, so some will pay much for it.

Most of them...we still haven't seen Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, the snes version of Earthworm Jim 2 (why people chose to release the Genesis version over the Snes version is beyond me...SPC700>YM2612) or Terranigma. Thanks to people porting over Snes9x, FCEUX, and Mupen64 to the Wii, corporate asininity (AKA, Nintendo/3rd parties not releasing games we care about) won't get in the way of playing the classics.

Almost 10K is a bit excessive. ~4K would be a lot more reasonable. That assumes about ~5 per game, a little less for the bad ones, a little more the good ones and then a nice premium for some of the rare/extremely good ones.
And then if I had a SNES and that kind of money (to spend on that kind of thing) I would definitely consider it and possibly go for it.

That game was awesome. A remake would be too.

Actually, Chrono Trigger did see a PSX release and a semi-remake on the DS. The PSX version had some load time issues but the DS version was quite good. Earthbound on the other hand is definitely a rare gem that I doubt we'll ever see again.

if i had alot of disposable income then yes. How awesome would it be to actually own every single us snes game, You could be as bad ass as lucas.

Still must be depressing for the seller to actually sell all of those.
