Stupid HP dv2700: ACPI problem

Okay, I'm sure I might have made a post like this before, but honestly, I don't even remember if/when I did. So here it is again.

My laptop is an HP dv2700 that originally came with Windows Vista Home Premium (worst OS ever) and had full ACPI BIOS and Intel VM-x support when I got it. Eventually, I got tired of Vista and wanted to dual boot XP and Win7 instead. I installed XP first (which required a modified iso with custom install tools, made my following various tutorials on the net, so no, I didn't download the thing) and while it was a pain to do, it worked. So now, I can't install Win7 because it doesn't detect the ACPI BIOS settings and I can't get hardware enabled virtualization in VM ware.

I tried to see if I could re-enable these in the BIOS, but those BIOS options were no longer there. They were there when I had Vista, but not anymore. I also tried to re-install vista using the recovery discs I created before, but that didn't work. I even tried to boot the recovery drive found on the HDD, but I can't boot that because I don't know how to do it manually. I've tried searching on the net for months for a way to fix this, but I can't find a damn thing on it, that or I get flooded with topics about downgrading to XP. I do have a BIOS update, but it's supposed to be for Vista and later, so if I flash it now, I don't know how XP will behave since XP gives a BSOD when advanced ACPI is detected.

If I had the cash, I'd just send it to HP and be done with it, but we broke ass mother f@#%ers don't have that option. This sucks. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have a spare HDD lying around? Move all your stuff off, format the drive and see if 7 installs. Im baffled how an OS can override a BIOS chip in the first place. Seems illogical. Screw HP btw. BTW, when dual booting, I always put the most advanced OS on first. So yeah, gut the mother****
