Unhappy Another question, hope you all don't mind.

I was just wondering, if you install windows while you are having a basic system problem (the over heating one) can windows then be messed up? I ask because, tonight, we were watching a DVD on my DVD drive. 3 times during the movie, the picture froze. When I checked to see what had happened, the software program (DVD station/player) had unloaded itself. It was just like someone had clicked on x and closed the program. When i went to restart, it told me that it couldn't find the DVD "window". So I had to restart the computer to get the DVD player back. I'm just wondering if this is due to windows or maybe a bad program install of the DVD software. Any ideas? Thanks.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

HI SXamiga, I encountered a very similar problem on my friend's Samsung DVD player. The DVD playback software would consistantly freeze around halfway through the movie (usually this was around the multi-layer switch point of the DVD). There is one of 2 things you can try.
1) try re-installing or updating your DVD playback software.
2) try updating your DVD-ROM's Firmware.

I'm my friend's case it was the DVD rom's Firmware.
I hope this helps

*Update* I just noticed your post about overheating below.
Yeah, try unistalling and reinstalling the software. yes sometimes if you try to install a program in an overheated condition it might not install correctly. Soo the safest bet in your case is to re-install the dvd software.

If you're having overheating problems, why don't you buy a better fan? Wouldn't that fix your problem and maybe you won't be getting DVD problems (unless the software was installed bad).

Yhanks for the relies Fou-lou and liquid. I did discover something that i had not realized. I had been messing around w/my Mom board's built in sound and I had accidently left it enabled. In the control pane under system, it was reporting a PCI multimedia device that had a problem. I disabled the built in sound card in the C-Mos settings and it went away. Perhaps having this enabled was causing a conflict w/my DVD decoder card. I also downloaded the lastest software for DVD decoder card (just as you suggested Liquid) and installed it last night. Now all I have to do is test the DVD by watching a movie. Hmmmm, that shouldn't be to hard
a task to do now should it? Thanks again.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

Shouldn't this be under either Hardware or Software discussion ... same with the one where sx/amiga asked about buying the GeForce card. Should have been under the Hardware Forums. Just curious.

Sometimes people get confused and don't know where to start the thread. That's why we have mod's to move thread's and tell'em where to put threads like these.
