little big problem

sorry if this is the wrong place but i am completely mad at the moment. i have a real problem, i downloaded a .rar file from the internet and when i try to extract it using 7z?or something it asks for password!!! why???

The password should be mentioned where you downloaded the file from. If it isn't then there's nothing you can do about it, cuz if it's a half-decent 15 character password then it'll take your PC years to crack it by brute force.

Usually when you download something that is in a .rar file, they will have the password in the description. All I can recommend is getting in contact with the person you have downloaded things from or read the description the person put up in the description a few times.

You may not have seen it when you first looked at the person's description about the download. You could have skimmed through it. I do that usually but try to do my best to read (if I need to) it multiple times in case I have missed something important.
