Well it didn't come as diverse as Gothic regarding bestiary and magic, but it did had a great environment, nice melee and "paladin" combat system, story sufficed as well, i wasn't as hyped with it as with gothic but it did a good job at entertaining me, this game though seems that it will offer a lot more the the first one, hopefully a something worthy of being called a gothic spiritual successor. And lets not forget that Risen was probably among the most polished games upon release, it didn't happen for so long that i even forgot how that felt.

I played the demo and I don't really like the new direction, even if its developed by Project Aces.

That series got crap after MGS2 imho

Try my Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 or Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition Playstation button mods!
As far as handhelds go, well, I get the Nintendo one.

that was good, but I only ever got to play the European version.
IMO Ace 3 - 6 (including Zero) are all great, but admittedly I never played 4 (I'm guessing it's in the same vain).

The new one reminded me of Hawx. =P

I was lucky that a friend had the Japanese version, later on i happened to test out the european one to and it was quite disappointing compared to the japanese one, the japanese one had 5 endings and many routes, which is why it was also on 2 CD's. Graphics compared to today may not be the best but gameplay, physics, hud, controls, audio, story even today are top of the line. Probably my favorite game of all time.

Your choice of the Neverwinter Nights, Mass Effect or Dragon Age series, maybe?
I can also highly recommend Deus Ex 3 for a stealth FPS with RPG elements. Though it's more an RPG with an FPS combat system.
