ok. so im fixing up my ePSXe. no Wnaspi32.dll?? ok. no prob! right? so i checked --> Troubleshooting FAQ -- READ THIS FIRST BEFORE YOU POST!! i get my ForceASPI_nero.zip like it says to. run the install thing. (some .bat strangeness) "restart system"? alrighty. ... O_o? my HP Pavillion dv6500 laptop will not boot. Vista, 2gig ram, 1.8GHz, Nvidia g-g-g-Ge-something. i forget. but i can get the specs if anyone needs them. i press the power to turn it on and 5 seconds later it Dies. Click. just...Off. sometimes it makes it all the way to the windows screen, but then... *click*, and she's dead. running chkdsk right now with an XP system. or...maybe this "fix" tainted my bios? i hope i posted this in the right...thing-place. if not then please redirect me, thx. |

You should be able to boot into Safe Mode; just keep pressing F8 before the loading Windows XP logo shows up. Locate the folder where you extracted the ForceASPI_nero.zip archive and run KILL ASPI.bat. As for ePSXe, don't ever use ASPI CDR plugins. Just use the Core W2k/XP CDR plugin. (It's built-in to ePSXe) If you want to use some other plugin like SaPuCdr, set it to IOCTL. Autodetect usually works too.

thanks for your help. i will give that a try sometime. but first i have to find out why the power wont stay on. any idea what would cause it to do that? im almost out of ideas. right now im looking up BIOS and if it is possible to flash/reset them from a CD. here's another peculiarity ---> i removed the hard drive and tried to boot like that, expecting to see "no OS" or something. But the problem is there still, even with No hard drive. the power still wont stay on more than 1 or 2 seconds. there's not much that i can do in that time so, idk. i can usually fix any kind of problem/crash on my own, but this...this has never happened before. the only problem that i can think of that comes closest to this was when i installed a driver on someone elses computer for an external USB Card Reader and something went wrong. i dont know what exactly (corrupt?), but now anytime that the device is connected, the system clicks off. no warning; no shut down. just like zap ---> x_X ded. i was lucky That time it was something that i could physically unplug and still start the system. wow, i typed a bunch. but you know, if Then is If, and If is now, then - maybe i will be able to boot if i disconnect the DVDR drive... hmm...*grabs a screwdriver* Last edited by DeadComputerTHX; July 30th, 2010 at 20:22.. its looking more and more like i get to change my name to "NoComputerT_T". i have disconnected everything and tried a nekid boot with no hard drive, no ram, no dvdr. still the same; power doesnt stay on for more than a second. bios. must flash. if only it would stay on long enough for me to. gnight, and to Masta g, thanks for your input. but it looks like this ol' girl has seen her last dance of the evening and the curtain is coming down fast. no lights to dim, no crown to call for an encore. her name was CelloV, and she was i good lappy. |

yeah. i wish that this was one of those simple oversights like the power cable. lol. ive tried a hard reset. nothing. ive tried these Win + B and Fn + B commands that are supposed to flash the bios (phoenix, which i have copied from HP site) done these with the CMOS battery out as well as in. something caused this to happen. if i knew What it was about the ASPI crap that Caused this, then i could start to find a solution. if Anyone, Anywhere knows or even has a theory about how me putting ForceAPSI on my dv6636nr Pavillion could have ****ed it so thoroughly, where it will not even power on, please leave something. i mean...the Motherboard. what did it do to my motherboard? why can it not be undone? |

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... Fixt it. Put a blowtorch on my video chip to "reflow" all the lil connections. It wasnt the BIOS. it wasn't the ASPI thing. It was just me trying to play final fantasy IIIX on a system known for video chip meltdowns. XD! if you found this thread with the same problem, look up dv9000 Reflow Video Chip on the youtube. thanks all, i'm off to melt me mobo again playing some mad mad ffiiix. |
