Problem with Chrono Trigger.

Okay I have a problem with the game so far, at the beginning after you bump in to Marla and go to the showing with Lucca, right when Marla goes into the portal and you pretty much jump in after her to save her, the game doesn't really freeze up but it pretty much stays in that screen where your warping into the past. I don't know how to explain how it looks but it stays there the whole time. Is there a way to get past that part or no?
