Ok, so I'm playing Sonic Adventure 2, and I've noticed something that didn't happen with the gamecube version. When I move forward or backward, my character (any character) tilts to the left just a little bit. I'm using my keyboard to play, not a controller of any sort. I can't see any reason why the characters tilt to the left. When I hit the right arrow to make them straighten out, they straighten out, but they lose speed because of the sudden movement, and they quickly start going to the left again. The EXACT same thing happens on Sonic Adventure 1, and they all tilt the same amount. Obviously, this is an emulator issue that needs correcting. This also happened on my older computer (before the graphics card broke), and it happened in the exact same way. Is there a quick fix to this issue, or is it a problem with the emulator? P.S. I've made a video to show you exactly how it looks. YouTube - nullDC movement issue

Yeah, if I recall correctly this happens by design. It's how the game is supposed to be.

Really? By design? Why didn't they do that in the Gamecube remake? I've played it on dolphin, and I don't get that problem at all. They move in straight lines, not curved ones. I'm gonna check this out some more. EDIT: I looked into it, and you're right. This is how the game is designed (I don't know why), so it is NOT an emulator problem, and I can't fix it without getting an actual controller.

Never noticed it until you say that it happens, and it really seems to be true on real console as well. I can't tell about SA1 (I don't have it here), but SA2 I played on my dreamcast right now and (it looks like) it happened just like your video. It's hard to tell. Since you have analog X axis, while up on Y axis is 100% held, I can't be sure there's no 0,5% right or left. SA1 and 2 are played all the time adjusting direction while running because analog sensitivity is pretty high when you are pushing 100% on any direction. You sacrifice the feeling of the game playing it without analog controls. Anybody can tell me if the analog function purupuru plugin works fine? If it doesn't happen on gamecube, pc, wii, atari 2600 or any other plataform, maybe they have fixed it

I don't own a proper dreamcast (or any compatible) controller, so a keyboard is all I've got. Is there any way to alter the "controller's" neutral position to compensate for the tilting?

neckilljo, if I tilt the camera, it will quickly tilt back to the normal position. KrossX, I don't know what the "half press button" is, but it doesn't sound like it'd help me out. It would be nice if we could adjust the sensitivity of the controller so that the UP arrow could not only register a Y-axis movement, but an X-axis movement that would even out the controller and cause Sonic to run normally. I know it will be tough, but I'm sure we could work something out. BTW, nullDC runs SA2 20-50% better than Dolphin. I can play SA2 on nullDC AND record it, and still get 100% speed throughout the whole level, and the screen recorder only misses a couple frames.

Get a joystick with analog dpad then, pretty simple. A psx or ps2 adapted to usb will do fine

Unfortunately, that won't be happening anytime soon. I'll try out the purupuru. I might be sounding dumb, but does the purupuru require a controller, or does a keyboard work?

Purupuru plugin is made for controllers, you can't use it with a keyboard. There might some kind of hack but I honestly doubt it since it is made for controllers, not for use with a keyboard. There is already a plugin to deal with keyboard and that situation is definitely not considered. Try to get a controller so you can use the purupuru plugin, you can find really cheap controllers. |

neckilljo is right. You should get a Playstation 2 controller. Sorry I can't help any better than that.
