Winamp Noise Sharpening DSP

So I usually don't like using any dsp but this one really do improve sound quality for me and several of my friends do think so too. How to instruction:

While Winamp is not running copy the unzipped file to Winamp's Plugins\DSP_SPS folder (You need to have Nullsoft Signal Processing Studio plugin which is present by default on latest Winamp).
then
1. Ctrl+P (for preferences)
2. Plug-ins > DSP/Effects
3. Nullsoft Signal Processing Studio DSP > Configure button
4. Load button
5. Open 'noise sharpening'
6. make sure 'Enable processing' is checkmarked
7. adjust the slider to your liking, though I found default is good enough

This is also compatible with any audio player that support Winamp 5 plugin, like AIMP (I'm using this with it in fact).

Please do give it a try and post your thought about it.

seems like this is only beneficial for people with low-end sound gear. People with quality equipment are cautioned against using it.

Actually part of why I'm sharing this here cause I'm curious how it sounds on people with higher end gear, and if what you mean by cautious is virus or something harmful you can check it on virustotal but if you mean on audio quality, disabling it is quite simple (involving checking a box) with no lasting effect.

Oh well, I'm happy here with the result using my cheap ass senn and onboard soundcard at least.

This DSP distorts the high end of your audio. It's intended use is for people who have cheap gear who have a problem with high end audio, but for those with no problem, this DSP will make your music sound worse.

Would you mind trying it out please? btw this is not really a dsp but more like a preset for winamp integrated dsp (nullsoft signal processing studio)

Also, this help my friends laptop sound quality, at least according to him.

Only half of it, I'm not convinced until someone with the hardware and have tested it themselves said otherwise.

would a x-fi extremegamer soundcard and a set of logitech x-530 count as high enough or would that still be considered a midrange setup?

That's high enough for me, so did you think it improved your sound quality or make it worse?

I'd call that low-end actually.
The sound card is half decent (using it myself), but the speakers are still crap.
If you want good sound, move away from the so called "pc-speaker" sets.

Tried it out for lulz, and yes, the sound got worse than before.
And my stereo isn't even that good. (Dynavoice F-6 + Eltax AVR-900)

I see, thanks for your input.

So for people who have decent to high end sound system I'd suggest to take a look at reclock wasapi,
