Nice . Have you seen the new 6 core? I saw one at the local Microcenter. You can't beat the price

The third book was great, but it left some questions unanswered. There probably will be a fourth book eventually.

Hopefully but hasn't it been some years since the third book has been released? (Though that doesn't mean anything by some authors)

They don't really have it on sale, do they? At least not like they have Intel processors. They have the i7-930 for just $200.

For PCSX2, though, Intel's probably better. My 890GX board is currently on RMA but I got higher FPS with a Core i3-530 than with a Phenom II X6 1055T with both at stock. The Phenom II X2 and Phenom II X4 are excellent bang for the buck, though. There just aren't that many apps making use of six cores right now to make the 1055T a good buy.

Yeah, it's cheap and sweet.

However, the phenom be in my picture is a dual core 550 and the cheapest part of my new build. Even the ram is more expensive.

What I'm building is a future barebone system for a beast of a pc. The two parts which influence performance most; the cpu and gpu are the only parts cheaped out on

I figure that since bulldozer is out in 6 months time, the depreciation of a thuban would be a bad choice, so I've instated a 550BE which is going to be unlocked to a quad core. Same goes for gpu, I want something that can max crysis and it STILL doesn't exist so my 4670 will still be in use.

The motherboard should be future proof and not limiting in connectivity.
USB3, Sata 3, rear cmos switch, up to 2000 ddr3 etc.

Edit: can you tell I'm excited? Tracking for the case and mobo says tomorrow is the day. I just hope the psu and ram arrive too.
Poor postman :/

NO MORE CELERON FOR ME!!!!!
(it's not even a core celeron, the OLD celeron)

For about 2 months.

It's cheap as hell for a 1055.

i7 930 = £250
Thuban 1055 = £160

Core unlocking isn't a sure thing, don't get your hopes to high. I had fails as well.

It may be, but its a X550 and not a phenom II X2 for a reason. I do wish you the best of luck, though don't get me wrong i'm just saying that don't get your hopes high until you did it :P.

I have no 'hopes', call me draconian but I come from the school of belief that you secure something you want and don't leave it to chance

It will unlock though. low number 0929gpmw, this will be one of the best chips of the batch known to produce the best results out of all 550's.

If it doesn't unlock for any reason, I'll just bump up to 4ghz dual core, no biggie.
Bulldozer isn't far away and when you've been riding a celeron for nearly a year, a russian space heater would be a night/day improvement.

Ah wait there's a problem of communication here (mainly caused by me not being specific enough), the problem isn't the unlocking itself that you'll probably do easily (btw you'll need a good cooler those things get hot...) its the stability and overall functionality, when you get it i suggest playing Battlefield (the latest one) or Resident Evil 5 (though with RE you might need a 2 hour play to be sure). It may sound stupid but this two games confirm if the unlocking was successful or not.

The giver was released in '93, Gathering Blue in 2000, and Messenger in 2004. So the spacing is just kind of random.

Also, from the "conversation with the author" pages in Messenger:
"I intented Messenger to be the concluding book in the triology [...] But already I am getting lots of letters asking me to follow Gabriel next. He's only eight in Messenger and appears only on one page. I suppose I could take up with him, eventually, but at the moment I am working on other projects."

So I have hope, at least.

Ah. I thought all three were released in the 90s. My bad. It would be nice if she expanded on the series. I really loved the Giver when I read it again a few years ago.

It was bogus that my teacher was making a class of ten year olds to read it and then try to interpret everything that was hidden in between the lines...so I really loathed the book for awhile and it was like pulling teeth at the thought of me reading the book again as I was older and able to catch a lot more things. I was also able to appreciate it a lot more. It's an amazing book.

Did you hear any rumors of them making a movie based on The Giver? I thought I had heard some people say that a movie was in the works but I haven't heard anything new about that rumor for awhile.

Finally got everything in. I'll get some ram now.

The motherboard came packaged in 80's holo-cheese

Look, it's my name, homos.

The case has the most overdone cooling I've seen. There's THREE massive fans. Plus some 12" fans too. Stock.
THREE of these ****ers!

It's a touch bigger than my current ATX dell/hp/whatever pos

Cable management is a dream..

Awesome case imho, it's like a massive erection meets an injection mold of win.

Have to place it to the side of my PC desk though, it's too damn huge and heavy, to the side it goes.

..now to get some rams and some sheeps

I ordered the 32 GB version of this for my Eee PC 901 last week. It arrived yesterday. So far it's a LOT faster than the stock 16 GB SSD, about 8x faster in the random 4k write test in CrystalDiskMark. Installing XP took a lot less time as well .

I ordered a new battery as well, as the old one has lost half of its capacity. It showed up last week but it was fairly damaged during shipping so I'm waiting for the replacement. It's rated for 12000 mAh vs 6600 for the stock battery, so I should get anywhere from 11-16 hours of usage; maybe slightly more with the new SSD.

Prime 95 testing.

Unlocked np, I don't have an aftermarket cooler yet, still deciding. So 1 hour prime for now with case fans up full

This chip is a beast. This is stock cooling and it's a pathetic heatsink. Case fans are supreme win though.

CPU-Z Validator 3.1

I'm not really trying to be honest, just upped the multi to 3.4 because I liked the number, tightened the ram, bumped cpu volts from 1.35 to 1.4

Done 1 hour prime 95 no trouble, once I get a heatsink I'll stress it for 6 hours or so. No more core increases for energy wastage but I'm told this batch is 3.8-4.2 on most chips

With 3,4 you can live it at 1.35.

+1

I didn't need to up the voltage unless I was running at 3.6GHz. Even then, I only had to raise it to 1.375V. Folding@Home proved that my system wasn't 100% stable at 3.6GHz/1.35V where Prime95 (48hrs) said it was fine.

Just bought these :

and of course it's soul mate :

Total cost Rp1.025.000 (approx $110). Damn, 4.000 dpi really difficult to handle, because I usually use my regular mouse at 800 dpi. Now it's time to learn, starting at 1.500 dpi and increasing to 2.000 dpi. Hopefully I can handle 4.000 dpi within a week

And for collection (not to be played) :

I know, I know what you think

Hmm, I wonder if you also provide consultation on what item to buy. I mean the quality and the best place to buy it.
