Gaming videos on Youtube... cam recordings

I've seen a lot of gaming vids on Youtube, and a lot of them are recorded using some handycam/digital camera with video recording function, etc.

Now, I understand some moments were hard to capture otherwise, and not everyone has tv cards at their disposal, but, I'm not a huge fan of them.
Maybe it'll get better now that HD cams are common, but still, it's not a direct capture.

Until now, on Youtube, I've limited my pc video capturing to Fraps, and I also captured some console vids using DScaler + TV card (and s-video). I prefer to avoid cam recordings as much as possible.

I've been wondering if I should make (a few) Xbox(360) captures... however, my only means is using the same tv card I used before, and I only have a composite (worse than s-video) cable to hook the 360 up to that.
Simply put, that quite takes the HD out of the 360, but, it might be better than a lot of cam recordings....

So, what I'm asking here is if I should still give it a try, or just leave it.
And the other thing I'm wondering about is what people here think of the recording quality of game videos on Youtube.

I say give it a go. SD video capture is still way better than a cam capture.

A lot of companies use this HDMI capture card for HD video capture. MSRPs at $199USD. I've seen it at around $160. Not too bad.

I absolutely detest cam captures. They look extremely unprofessional and often have bad lighting and very shaky hands.

I don't bother watching camera recordings.

Some games can't be recorded with capture cards.

of course, and in such cases a cam is just fine... and even shows more.

That's a very nice vid... the ones I don't like as much is someone using his phone camera to record the latest need for speed from his hdtv.
