Black Screen of Death

Thats how I'm going to call it because it seems everyone who has had this problem, still hasn't figured out a way of working this out.

If they had, I've encountered no solution on the forums. And so, I'm seeking your help to aid me o:

So basically, all plugins in, default settings are on. Didn't tweak anything. Bios is in there. Playing with Iso. images only. Do not have my PSx Games anymore. I've tried and this Black screen is re-occuring on Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, 3, Bash and Racing, Einhander, Metal Gear Solid. So I'm guessing any games at this point won't work at all.

PROBLEM: File > Run Iso > Iso File name (TYPE: MagicISO Document). It goes to start, windows starts black and at the top right corner a little box appears with a picture of a remote control with the word Standard 1 over it. Now when I try it, the window stays black but a window opens saying No Buffer Available.

Running System: (Speccy Information)
OS: MS Windows XP Proffessional SP3
GPU: AMD Athlon II X2 245 (Regor 45nm Architecture)
Ram:4.0GB Kingston DC DDR2
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology M61PME-S2P (Socket M2), NVIDIA MCP61 Chipset
Graphics: 256MB GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 (Gigabyte)
Audio: Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373)(WDM)

The Initial problem started with the black screen and the white window with the controller image and over it written Standard 1.

At the time, these were the plugins I was using:
Graphic: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9
Sound: P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9
CdROM: Mooby2 CD Disk Image Driver 2.8

Now when I read on this site that Mooby2 was disfunctional with the 1.7 version I changed the CDrom Plugin to P.E.Op.S CDR Driver 1.4
Now, whatever Plugin mix I do: I get a window telling me No Buffer Available.

I know my way around computer, OS's and etc. But I'm a complete noob when it comes to ePSXe.

Thank for your help.

Welcome to EF, but this time we can't help you. You must own original copies of the games along with ISO files. Having only ISO files is considered as piracy. See rules. Retrieve your games back and come again.

I'm more then 6years playing Games on Emus. and near evem long time I post here and in other forums about Emulators.
The new bad word seems to be "Black Screen of Death".
Seems an Masshystery .
Sorry I can only see some People the not can read some basic guides to the Emulators.
In all these I only posted an owne Problem about nonstarting FF8 on ePSXe 1.70.
Boowhohooo it war a "BlackScreen of Death".

In all this time I don't had a Game that not start with PeopsSoftGPU and Internal Sound on Runiso.
I made my Iso self from BlackSonyCDs with Isoproducer (as needed with Patch).
If i read 1000times: "Oh FF7 crashes at this Point" (but my Iso works well) ... I think the have all the originalCD with the same scratch.

...Or you makes your first Post here. You came with an "MagicISO Document" (Is this a normal ISO ?
Youre using Mooby Disk Image Plugin( very outdated!but works well tested at this Moment) Why not start with RunIso whthout using CDplugin.
Youve tested 6 Games and nothig will work. Ive so the idee that youre imageprogram not so good ???Bandicot wars a Game needed PPF???.

If The Biosrun works then your Plugins basicly OK!

Titus03. Those ISO files were taken out from original CD's. I just don't have those CD's anymore with me. So I can't rip 'em or make new images anymore. But I'm 100% sure that those images aren't corrupted since I've kept them in a nice organized folder and ever since having that and even before having been running Virus-checking and Spyware-checking programs Daily.

As for you, Erzesel..
Who the hell do you think you are?
Coming and trying to boot me down under your heel?
I've read those FAQs and I've read Config Stickies and nowhere were both the problem I mentioned up above described, so I think I have all the rights to post these questions.

Second, heal your language mate. I can understand English isn't the language you use at home or with friends but at least try forcing yourself, clearly easy and amateur grammar mistakes.

Third, How do you want me to know things are outdated or not. Moobey is greatly used even today. Using MagicISO which is the same, if not even better then ISOProducer, thank you.

Fourth, I've clearly stated that I am new at this Game Emulation while you've been at it for 6 years. 6 years is a lot of experience so cut me some slack and if you've got nothing interesting or positive to relay to me, then don't even bother!

Cdrmooby2.dll from 25. August 2003 isn't verry old? CDRmooby is one of the oldest Plugins in the Folder! but it works as well.

Sry its not against you all the time that same stupid Qustion and resulting the Error is the Brain and not the Emu.
I think than in Saxonian: "Oh Jodd, wi bleede kenn dien sin", I don't translat this in anny other language!
are you realy tested the Isos to start with RunIso?
you have tested 6 games and noting works ,
what to you think if i tell you "i have build 6 Bicycles with Square-Weel, but none of them will role, i think the Road demaged"

for 1000s of People the Emu Works Fine and you will me tell your no runing ISOs are ok

Why to you think the Isosar OK? Its not a question of Order or viruschecking. It can be that something in the Fileheader is other than in a normal Iso or any other is wrong in this file.
cmon I'm not sleep standing at the Wall.

I'm not doubting your experience. I'm just saying you know bit more then I do and the how to's for Emuplaying, thats all.

My Iso's are fine, because every other console I've done is working, from computer to Xbox and N64 and GBA.

Ive just never could get ePSXe to work.
When I run my Bio's without an Iso's I get the ''No Buffer Available'' Error Message.
Which I'm pretty much guessing by now, cause I've been tweeking and trying to work this out is the configuration of my Plugins.
Agree?

The only Wrong Thing wars the 1.70 Biosrun-crash settes Mooby2!

So it's 3 o'clock , good night

Edit:
I have searched for the Errormesage "No Buffer Available" in ePSXe and any Plugins:
only gpuPeteOpenGL2.dll has the Errorstring"No buffer available!" insite.
Quote:

So I think you have not checked ot to Run with PeopsSoftGPU or some other GPU , other GPU Plugins dont can give this Message.
I've checked out Pete's Forum for this Error, there more reasons for this Error Message.
One of this suspect things : maybe Windows Blinds http://www.razyboard.com/system/more...2819547-0.html
or http://www.razyboard.com/system/more...-700375-0.html

So you're saying I should use ePSXe 1.60 instead of the 1.70?

No!
I say you used Petes OGL2.
and any other Systemcomponent of youre computer interacts in a wrong way with this Plugin or resources used of them.

I have always all available versions and plugins on my computer to reproduce some Emu-situatons off other users

Might be my card who isn't strong enough to use OGL2?
Would Petes website have a tab where you can see all the compatible cards that work?
Or is there a way to check that?

your Cart have Pixelshaders but it can be that they are not strong enough
My old computers NV 5600fx wars not good for OGL2.

Some times OGL2 is not the best choice to play and OGL 1.xx makes sharper and nicer pictures
